Girls soccer: West Valley ties for first place in GNL

Kiana Nagata, Ashley Meyer and Madeline Lieberg scored during a 14-minute span of the second half Thursday as West Valley created a first-place tie in Great Northern League girls soccer with a 3-0 win over visiting Cheney (1-13, 0-11).

The Eagles’ offense got going at the 62-minute mark.

West Valley (11-4, 10-2) tied idle East Valley (11-3, 9-2) with 28 points.

Pullman 2, Clarkston 1 (OT): Mac Oldroyd came up with the ball out of a broken play, took a touch from 25 yards out and kicked the ball over the goalkeeper to give the Greyhounds (5-9, 3-7) a victory over the Bantams (6-7, 5-6).

Clarkston’s Taylor Bogle and Pullman’s Madi Mueller scored during regulation.
