Brewers for Families
Mad Bomber Brewing is joining forces with North Idaho Cider to raise money for two North Idaho families facing severe and expensive medical issues.
Through their “Brewers for Families” benefit, both Hayden businesses will donate a portion of taproom proceeds on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
Mad Bomber also will sell donated food from the Las Chevelas Mexican restaurant in Coeur d’Alene toward the cause, and auction the only publicly released bottle of last year’s Black Hand anniversary ale, a barrel-aged imperial porter. (This year’s version will be tapped at the brewery’s second anniversary party Nov. 7.)
Recipients are Cassondra Alonzo of Coeur d’Alene, who’s seeking experimental treatment in Arizona for her rare neurological disease, Neuro-Behcet’s; and Darlene Ayers of Post Falls, who needs surgery for a brain tumor.
Mad Bomber’s Tom Applegate says he hopes to expand Brewers for Families into an ongoing nonprofit organization. “There’s certainly a need for it,” he says.
