Catching up with more news from the past week in local craft beer:

– Selkirk Abbey launches its 12 Specials of Christmas on Monday with $6 pours of premium beers and 10 percent off bottles, followed Tuesday by $2 pints and $6 growler fills of its new, non-Belgian Northern Cross IPA. Look for more deals most days through Christmas Eve.

– Speaking of Belgians, Bellwether is hosting an Abbey Beer Dinner next Sunday featuring four spiced variations on classic Trappist styles: a dessert-spiced Enkel (single) aged on dried pineapple; a Dubbel brewed with spruce, juniper and basil and aged on clove and juniper berries; a Tripel brewed with fruitcake spices and aged on dried figs, dates and raisins; and a Quadrupel with apple cider and wassail spices, aged on cinnamon and clove. Tickets for the banquet-style meal are $35.

– Fairfield’s Zythum , which only has been open to the public one weekend a month over the past year, announced that it’s closing the taproom altogether because of owners’ other work and family commitments. It plans to continue brewing for distribution to Steady Flow Growler House in Spokane Valley.

Post Falls Brewing has extended its hours to Monday-Thursday, 4-9 p.m.; Friday, 2-10; Saturday, noon-10; and Sunday, noon-8.

– Finally, a heads-up for Jubelale fans: Ten days before winter officially begins, Deschutes’ beloved winter seasonal is starting to disappear from store shelves to make way for the equally beloved Red Chair pale. Maybe they should start calling Jubel a “festive fall ale”?
