Your weekly roundup
Some odds and ends from the past week in local craft beer:
– While we’re building up to the new Ale Trail map release on March 5, it’s not too early to start thinking about Spokane Craft Beer Week .
This year’s events will again coincide with the national observance May 16-22, with local brewers again teaming up for some collaboration beers. That will include one by No-Li and Orlison – following up on their cooperative effort to brew and can No-Li’s Born & Raised IPA – and No-Li will again host an event on its riverfront patio showcasing all the collabs, according to brewery owner John Bryant.
– Speaking of No-Li, fewer than 50 tickets are still left for its next small-batch festival on March 5, coinciding with the Ale Trail kickoff.
– In Sandpoint, Laughing Dog is making quick progress on its expansion plans. The nationally distributed brewer expects to move production into a new facility in April; the original brewery and taproom is being revamped as a full-scale alehouse with a kitchen , which could be turning out food in two weeks.
– River City received a nice shout-out in City Councilwoman Lori Kinnear’s new video spotlighting small businesses in her district (starting at the 33:40 mark), including a visual tour of the old-school brewing setup. Meanwhile, the downtown brewery is gearing up for a monthlong celebration of the release of this year’s revamped Riverkeeper IPA ; look for more details here in the coming week.
– Finally, Downdraft is joining in the brewery yoga trend with classes each Sunday in March at 11 a.m., taught by Mary Naccarato . Cost is $15 for an hourlong session and a pint; reserve your spot via Facebook .
