Your weekly roundup

Some odds and ends from the past week in local craft beer, and beyond:

– Big Barn’s bottled beers, which launched on a limited basis over the summer, have arrived at both local Total Wine stores (North Side and Valley); bring your receipts to the taproom and get $1 off a pint for each bomber purchased. The Green Bluff brewery is bottling seven styles so far – Peone Wheat, Mead Honey Lager, Dunn-Day IPA, Rusty Red, Mountain Smoke Porter, Strong Oat Stout and Black Dog Stout – with more to come.

Quartzite Brewing officially opened its doors Friday in Chewelah; hours are Friday-Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m., or as long as the beer lasts.

– Central Food in Kendall Yards has resumed its Friday brewer’s lunch series, with offerings from a selected brewery each week along with beer-themed food specials from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. (no tickets or reservations necessary). The upcoming schedule includes Iron Horse next week, Georgetown on Feb. 5 and Paradise Creek on Feb. 12.

– Twelve String has launched a Beer of the Week program, with $1 off pints and growler fills of a selected style. First-week honoree Roundabout Confusion harvest ale finishes its run today.

– The local brewery anniversary parade continues with English Setter , which celebrates its second year in business on Feb. 6 with $1 off pints, half-price appetizers, prizes and live music in the evening.

– Also mark your calendar for No-Li’s next small-batch festival, coming up March 12 from 1 to 5 p.m. (after the St. Patrick’s Day parade) featuring 10 barrel-aged and infused specialties.

– Selkirk Abbey has been named Idaho’s best brewery for a third straight year by Tacoma beer blogger Steve Body, who writes as The Pour Fool . Its barrel-aged Guilt porter was among the blog’s five beers of the year, with the coffee-infused version also receiving recognition in individual style categories along with the Infidel IPA, Selkirk Grace Scottish, St. Joseph imperial saison and Cuvee de la Nuit Profonde barrel-aged blend (just released to area specialty stores this week in 22-ounce bottles).

Body also singled out Iron Goat’s Goatmeal Stout and No-Li’s Crony brown, which previously was tabbed as one of Washington’s top eight beers of 2015 by the Washington Beer Blog’s Kendall Jones.

– Finally, Northwest hopheads are already salivating over the news that this year’s 3-Way IPA collaboration from Fort George will also include lupulin royalty Barley Brown’s, whose Pallet Jack IPA won gold at the Great American Beer Festival in 2013, and Melvin Brewing, whose 2x4 imperial IPA captured the Alpha King award the past two years in a special hoppy beer competition during the GABF. We’ll be able to taste the results in a few months.
