Prep baseball roundup: Gonzaga Prep shuts out Pasco in 4A subregional
Seth Kuykendall struck out 10 in a one-hit, complete-game shutout and Gonzaga Prep (17-4) defeated visiting Pasco 10-0 in six innings on Thursday in a 4A subregional.
Kuykendall also drove in a pair of runs on two hits. Carsten Schmidt led the G-Prep offense with a grand slam among his three hits.
Gonzaga Prep advances to play Chiawana on Saturday, while Pasco faces Ferris in a loser-out.
Chiawana 9, Ferris 1: Brayde Heral allowed one run on five hits in a complete game and the host Riverhawks (13-8) beat the Saxons (12-9) in Pasco.
Chiawana set a school record with 13 wins. Bristol McElroy went 3 for 3 with four RBIs.
Hanford 11, Central Valley 5: The visiting Falcons scored seven runs in the eighth inning and beat the Bears (12-7).
Jeremy Yelland had a double among three hits for Central Valley, which hosts Mead in a loser-out game on Saturday.
Walla Walla 11, Mead 4: Mitch Lesmeister reached base five times and scored two runs as the Blue Devils defeated the visiting Panthers (9-13). Mead pitchers walked 13.
