BSU sinkhole causes flooding, closes streets
BOISE – A water main break near the intersection of University Drive and Lincoln Avenue Sunday night at Boise State University caused flooding of streets and parking lots — and it’s expected to impact driving, parking and even restroom/food service on campus Monday.
The flooding caused a sinkhole, university officials said in a press release late Sunday. The intersection of University and Lincoln is closed until further notice.
There was a water main break at the campus last October, and a responding Boise fire truck got stuck in a sink hole.
Suez crews were on scene Sunday. The company said on Twitter that the break is not in the same place as last fall.
Students, staff and others are asked to follow detour signs around the perimeter of campus. The best streets to access campus: Boise Avenue, Beacon Street, Broadway Avenue and Cesar Chavez Lane.
Areas impacted by the flooding include Theatre Lane and the East Side Administration plaza lot. Parking won’t be permitted in the East Administration or Liberal Arts lots.
The Lincoln Parking Garage remains open and can be accessed from Beacon Street and Lincoln Avenue south of University Drive.
