Anthony Davis scored 27 points, DeMarcus Cousins had 15 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists before seriously injuring his left Achilles, and host New Orleans survived a furious Houston rally for a 115-113 victory Friday night.

A person familiar with the situation said Pelicans team physicians have provided a preliminary diagnosis of an Achilles tear, which would end Cousins’ season little more than a week after he was named an All-Star starter. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because, officially, the team said an MRI will determine the severity of the injury.

The injury, which occurred as Cousins pursued a missed free throw with 12 second left in the game, all but squelched the jubilation from a team and its fans, who otherwise would have been celebrating a fourth straight victory and seventh in eight games.

Jrue Holiday scored 21 points and unconventionally sealed the victory by purposefully missing a free throw with 1.8 seconds left, causing time to run out as players fought for the rebound.

Chris Paul scored a season-high 38 points before fouling out in the final seconds and nearly led Houston back from a 21-point, third-quarter deficit. James Harden had 23 points and 11 assists, and Eric Gordon scored 27 points.

Cavaliers 115, Pacers 108: LeBron James had his 63rd career triple-double – overcoming 11 turnovers – and Cleveland showed signs of ending a stunning slump with a victory over visiting Indiana.

James finished with 26 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds to help the Cavs, following a minor lineup switch by coach Tyronn Lue, wins for just the fourth time in 11 games. However, James kept Indiana close in the fourth with six turnovers.

Jazz 97, Raptors 93: Ricky Rubio made a 3-pointer with 4 seconds left to lift Utah past host Toronto.

Donovan Mitchell scored 26 points, Rudy Gobert had 18 points and 15 rebounds, and Rubio finished with 14 points. With Utah trailing 93-92, Rubio made his 3-pointer for the 14th – and final – lead change of the game. After DeMar DeRozan missed a jumper, Royce O’Neale sealed it with a pair of free throws.

Jonas Valanciunas had a season-high 28 points and 14 rebounds for Toronto.

Lakers 108, Bulls 103: Brandon Ingram scored 25 points, including eight in the final 3:18, and Los Angeles rallied to beat host Chicago after losing a 12-point, fourth-quarter lead.

Clippers 109, Grizzlies 100: Lou Williams had 40 points and matched his season high with 10 assists in Los Angeles’ victory over Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee.

Williams was 12 of 19 from the field and the Clippers shot 49 percent from the field, going 10 of 27 from outside the arc, to snap a three-game skid. Milos Teodosic added 18 points.

Knicks 107, Suns 85: Enes Kanter scored 15 of his 20 points in the first quarter and New York never trailed in ending its longest road trip of the season with a 107-85 victory over host Phoenix.

Kristaps Porzingis added 19 points and Tim Hardaway Jr. 15 for the Knicks on the final stop of a seven-game trip that ended with games on consecutive nights at Denver and Phoenix. Trey Burke scored 15 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter for New York.
