Boys basketball: Jake Berman scores 26 points, Cheney beats Lake City

Jake Berman scored 26 points and visiting Cheney (5-4) beat Lake City (1-7) 55-45 on Wednesday in a nonleague game.

Jack Kiesbuy led the Timberwolves with 12 points.

Newport 58, St. George’s 55: Danny Bradbury scored 22 points and the visiting Grizzlies (8-1) defeated the Dragons (8-2). Erik Farias led St. George’s with 20 points.

Chewelah 62, Springdale 52: Jaron Baldwin scored 16 points and the Cougars (6-6) defeated the Chargers (4-7). Cory Hubert led Springdale with 22 points.

Tonasket 70, Republic 22: Ethan Smith scored 15 points and the visiting Tigers (6-3) downed the Tigers (0-8).

Lucas Larsen and Taylor Connor scored seven points apiece for Republic.

Inchelium 78, Columbia 49: Robert McKinney scored 20 points and the visiting Hornets (6-3) topped the Lions (1-7).

Jacob Flett, Lonnie Simpson Jr. and Brenton Swan added 14 points apiece for Inchelium. Solomon Christen led Columbia with 16 points.
