Bob: Why didn’t Toby respond?

Uncle Bob (RE: Schindelbeck requests Hucks to play fair): DFO: Curious; did you happen to reply to Toby's email w/ detailed instructions on how to access this blog, set up a user account, etc. so that he might reply to any of the questions raised as a result of your willingness (despite your "bias") to post his plea for "fair consideration"? I only ask because, even if he's responding under a psuedonym, his deafening silence thus far speaks volumes. Perhaps he has another engagement, or his email was sent w/o his knowledge and unfortunately timed thus preventing him from responding, or maybe 6 times the length of an average City Council meeting (as I write this, not including the cumulative time since he announced his candidacy) isn't enough time to formulate any responses to the various concerns raised by he himself asking for "fair consideration".

Seems to me he poked a hornets nest with a stick and then ran away. Hornets nests are tricky to deal with: the first step is to have a plan to deal with them, the next steps are to follow through with the plan, decisively (an act that some might call, "engagement"). That, or just poke 'em with a stick then run away and hope nobody you care about gets stung.

DFO: Short answer? No. I didn't provide instructions to Toby Schindelbeck re: responding online to questions you raised. But he's a sharp guy. I'm sure he coulda figured it out on his own. OTOH, this is a tough crowd. I suspect he made his point and thought it wiser to watch from the cheap seats. Which is too bad. A candidate may suffer bruises venturing on here to interact with the denizens of Huckleberries. But s/he tends to when people over by doing so, too.
