Starbucks says it's increasing prices slightly on brewed coffee, espresso and tea latte beverages. The Seattle-based coffee chain says prices on select sizes of brewed coffee in U.S. company-operated stores are jumping 10 to 20 cents Tuesday, while prices on espresso and tea latte beverages will rise 10 to 30 cents.

Yokes to buy 4 Trading Company stores 

Yoke’s Fresh Markets is expanding again. Less than a year after buying Haggen in Liberty Lake, the employee-owned company announced Monday that it is buying Trading Company Stores, a local chain with four stores in Spokane Valley, Post Falls, Cheney and Latah Valley.

Edit: Ban sale of aerial fireworks 

The Idaho Press Tribune (Nampa-Caldwell) is calling for a ban on the sale of illegal fireworks in Idaho. Now, it's OK to buy aerial fireworks, but not to shoot them off. Can you see where that might be a problem. This year, as a result of aerial fireworks, two houses burned down. The editorial says it's time to put teeth into this law.

Dyno the Junkyard Dog dies at 12 1/2 

Dyno the Junkyard Dog at Pegasus Auto Recycling in Garwood was a favorite of many locals, happily posing for photos with them: "He looked forward to his photo shoots," said Susan Pare, daughter of Pegasus owner L.T. Jones. The family announced this week that the loved wolf-malamute hybrid died recently.

Post Falls, developer strike park deal

Plans for a sports complex and a neighborhood park will move forward in Post Falls thanks to a deal between the city and a developer. The agreement between the city and Copper Basin Construction will allow for a future 25-acre, multi-use sports complex on the north end of the Tullamore subdivision on the south side of Prairie Avenue.

13 caught in child-rapist sting 

Thirteen people have been arrested in Spokane County in a major sting operation targeting would-be child rapists. Nine of the suspects appeared in Spokane County Superior Court Monday afternoon and four had hearings last week. Most responded to a Craigslist ad posted by detectives from the Missing and Exploited Children Task Force.
