Hoo will be dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Science, Rosemarie Hunter joins as dean of the School of Leadership Studies and Vincent L. Salyers will be dean of the School of Nursing and Human Physiology. Hoo and Hunter fill their roles June 17, while Carter and Salyers begin July 1.

‘Myst’ makers Cyan Worlds turn to Kickstarter once more to fund virtual reality game ‘Firmament’

The Mead-based company that developed the seminal 1990s adventure game is crowdsourcing its next adventure, with a goal of raising $1.3 million in a month to make “Firmament.” The company’s first title designed with virtual reality platforms in mind, “Firmament” is slated for release next summer if Cyan is successful in its bid for financial support from longtime fans.

The Dirt: State agency office building coming to north Spokane

A $2.5 million building will be constructed in Spokane’s Shiloh Hills neighborhood for the newly created Washington state Department of Children, Youth, and Families, according to city permit data. The 18,800-square-foot office building will fill a vacant, 1.5-acre lot at 6830 N. Nevada St. When complete, the single-story structure will have 78 parking spots.
