Depth Key As Saxons Tip Tigers

GSL volleyball The way Missy Blackshire had it figured, Lewis and Clark was outnumbered when the Tigers arrived at Ferris for a Greater Spokane League volleyball match Tuesday night. "We're one of the only teams in the GSL deeper than six people," she said. "Everyone who plays gives something to the game. We can mix it up."

Mcglocklin Rambles As Panthers Rumble Senior Running Back Piles Up 179 Yards As Mead Overwhelms Shadle Park 37-7

Scott McGlocklin may have been the only one to notice, but he felt his 89-yard, two-touchdown effort in the Mead Panthers' season-opening football game was sub-par. Out to prove a point, if only to himself, the senior running back rambled for 179 yards and two touchdowns Thursday night as the Mead swamped Shadle Park 37-7 before 3,040 fans in the lone Greater Spokane League football game at Albi Stadium. "I just didn't have a very good game last week," the 214-pound battering ram said. "I came out and wanted to pick it up a step. I tried to run as hard as I could, follow my tackles and go for the end zone."

Lc Tigers Hope To Bring Offense Up To Level Of Defense

The way Josh Bankston sees it, the Lewis and Clark Tigers are on the fast track to the playoffs. Well, that's not exactly the way he said it, but in the eyes of the 172-pound senior running back-defensive back, there's no reason the Tigers shouldn't finish in the top four in the Greater Spokane League standings and make the playoffs.

Returning Players Keep Gsl Soccer Teams Even

This is the last chance Greater Spokane League soccer teams have to end the Mead dynasty as it exists. After this season there will be no single Mead High team. Next year, Mead will be split, with the new Mount Spokane High joining the league. It is also the last year for veteran coach Dick Cullen, the architect of the dynasty. He will leave the sidelines to become Mead's athletic director. "We don't want it to be emotional," said Cullen. "We want everybody to give what they've got. You've got to be thinking about the present."
