Dale Hall Colfax, Wash.

Service for Dale Hall is planned for 10 a.m. today at Colfax Nazarene Church. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in Steptoe, Wash. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hall, 70, died Sunday. He was born in Steptoe and graduated from high school there.

He attended Cheney Normal School until the start of World War II. He then returned to the family farm and farmed there until he retired about three years ago.

He coached Little League and American Legion baseball for 19 years and helped coach the Colfax High School girls’ softball team. He was inducted into the Spokane Metro Softball Association Hall of Fame and the Colfax Men’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame.

Mr. Hall was a member of the Colfax Elks Lodge, the Colfax Golf Club and the Colfax Men’s Bowling Association.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Johnsy Hall, at home; two daughters, Claudia Tyzsko of Everett and Marjorie Boettcher of Hoquiam, Wash.; two sons, Cary and John Hall, both of Colfax; two brothers, Cedric and Irwin Hall, both of Colfax; two sisters, Marjorie Boettcher of Hoquiam and Melba Shahan of Colfax; 11 grandchildren, and three greatgrandchildren.

Memorials may be given to the Bethel Cemetery or the Colfax Golf Club.

Margaret Borden Spokane

Graveside Service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Riverside Memorial Park for Margaret Borden, 92. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Borden, who died Sunday, was born in New York City.

She and her husband moved to Washington state in 1931 from New York. She had lived in Spokane since 1934. She was a homemaker and a former member of Grace Lutheran Church.

Her husband, Francis Borden, preceded her in death.

She is survived by one daughter, Winnifred Howell of Granite Falls, Wash.; three sons, Albert, Richard and Gary Borden, all of Spokane; 13 grandchildren and several greatgrandchildren.

Mae Sooy Spokane

Memorial service for Mae E. Sooy, 82, will be at 11 a.m. today at Shadle Park Presbyterian Church. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sooy, a longtime Spokane resident, died Sunday. She was born in Almira, Wash.

She graduated from Cheney Normal School and was a elementary school teacher in Port Townsend, Wash., from 1938 until 1971.

She was a member of Shadle Park Presbyterian Church, the Order of Eastern Star and the Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Kirby Sooy, at home; two daughters, Kay Hill of Port Angeles, Wash., and Rae Buse of Boise; one son, Richard Sooy of San Mateo, Calif.; two sisters, Bertha Hughes of Davenport, Wash., and Jo Milner of Spokane; six grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shadle Park Presbyterian Church or the Diabetes Education Center in care of Deaconess Medical Center.

Clifton Mitchell Colville, Wash.

Memorial service for Clifton Lee “Cliff” Mitchell, 64, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Colville United Methodist Church. Danekas Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Private burial will be at Garden Valley Cemetery in Kettle Falls.

Mr. Mitchell, who was born in Kettle Falls, Wash., died Saturday.

He graduated from Marcus (Wash.) High School and served in the Army. He attended barber school in Spokane and taught there from 1953 until 1964. He operated a barber shop in Colville for 12 years and in Kettle Falls for 18 years before retiring.

He was a member of the Kettle Falls American Legion and the Barbers Union.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Wanda Mitchell, at home; one daughter, Tina Baker of Colville; three sons, Leon and Lewis Mitchell, both of Colville, and Lyle Mitchell of Olympia; two brothers, Virgil Mitchell of Post Falls and Wilbur Mitchell of Colville; and four grandchildren.

Elizabeth Bell Spokane

Service for Elizabeth W. Bell, 62, will be held at 10 a.m. today at Riverside Mausoleum Chapel at Riverside Memorial Park. Private burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her husband, Jack Bell, at home; one daughter, Susan Nelson of Elk; one son, Michael Bell of Nine Mile Falls; her mother, Alvira McLaughlin of Spokane; three sisters, Shirley Dinsmore of Lewistown, Mont., Sharon Brennan of Tacoma and Arlene McIntyre of Ukiah, Calif.; five brothers, Thomas McLaughlin of San Jose, Calif., Aaron McLaughlin of Puyallup, Wash., Patrick McLaughlin of Ellensburg, Michael McLaughlin of Great Falls, Mont., and Mark McLaughlin of Billings, Mont; five grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.

Edwin Woehl Hayden Lake, Idaho

Service for Edwin “Ed” Woehl, 84, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Christ the King Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Woehl, who died Sunday at Kootenai Medical Center, was born in Burke, S.D.

He and his wife farmed in Burke, Idaho, before moving to Mullan, Idaho, in 1948. He went to work for Hecla Mining Co. He retired in 1973, and they moved to Hayden Lake in 1977.

He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Alvina Woehl, at home; one son, Roger Woehl of West Linn, Ore.; two daughters, Arlene Walker of Spokane and Alice Williams of Coeur d’Alene; nine grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.

Hedwig `Heddy’ Schilling Spokane

Vigil service for Hedwig L. “Heddy” Schilling will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.

Funeral Mass is planned for 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Augustine Catholic Church. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Schilling, 87, who died Saturday, was born in Germany.

She had lived in Spokane since 1928 and was a member of St. Augustine Parish. She was associated with the Cathedral of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish and School, and worked at Sacred Heart Medical Center for 25 years.

Her husband, Frederick Schilling, died in 1978.

She is survived by one son, Charles “Chuck” Schilling of Spangle; one granddaughter, one grandson and one great-grandson.

Gertrude Dusthimer Nine Mile Falls

Vigil service for Gertrude J. Dusthimer is planned for 7 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral HomeNorth. Funeral Mass will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Tum Tum, Wash. Burial will be at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Deer Park.

Mrs. Dusthimer, who died Sunday, was born in Belvidere, Ill.

She moved to Nine Mile Falls from Long Beach, Calif., 17 years ago. She was a homemaker who volunteered for and managed the Tum Tum-Suncrest Food Pantry for the past eight years.

She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Tum Tum.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Edwin Dusthimer, at home; two daughters, Annette Roy of Deer Park and Michele Wilson of Des Moines, Iowa; one son, Michael Dusthimer of Spokane; and 12 grandchildren.

Faiez Farag Spokane

Funeral service for Faiez S. Farag, 67, will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at at Pines Cemetery.

Mr. Farag, a former high school teacher, died Sunday. He was born in Egypt.

He lived in Spokane for 20 years and taught high school in Tekoa, Wash., and the Cascade School District.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Basima Farag of Spokane; one son, J.D. Farag of Spokane; one daughter, Carol Farag of San Diego; two brothers, George and Joseph Farag, both of Spokane; and three sisters, Faiza Michael, Amal Kltalaf and Fowzia Brahim, all of Egypt.

U.E. `Red’ Simonton Wilmington, N.C.

Memorial service for U.E. “Red” Simonton, 71, will be held in Spokane at a later date. A service was held in Wilmington.

Mr. Simonton, a former 20-year Spokane resident, died last Wednesday in Wilmington, where he had lived for the last two years. He was born in Madison County, Ind.

He worked in advertising for Spokane television stations and he and his wife operated The Scottish Treasure Chest in Spokane.

He was a member of the Lions Club, the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit in Veradale and St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Spokane.

He is survived by his wife, Joy Simonton, at home; two daughters, Debbi Simonton of Scotland and Kemille Moore of Platte, Neb.; one son, Jeffrey Simonton of North Platte, Neb.; and four grandchildren.

Helen (Bro) Boulac Spokane

Mrs. Boulac, a 51-year Spokane resident, died Saturday. She was born in Cohagen, Mont.

She worked at the Altamont Pharmacy for 15 years and was a member of Sacred Heart Parish.

Her first husband, Thomas Bro, died in 1977.

She is survived by her husband, Roland Boulac, at home; one son, Robert Bro of Spokane; one daughter, Bonnie Abernethy of Spokane; two stepsons, Thomas Boulac of Seattle and Wayne Boulac of Spokane; two stepdaughters, Elaine Grant of Portland and Carol Parrett of Vancouver, Wash.; one brother, Joe Lund of Spokane; two sisters, Darlene Gribnau of Spokane and Henrietta Thomas of Tacoma; eight grandchildren and three stepgrandchildren.

Oscar Matson Spokane

Graveside service for Oscar L. Matson, 97, is planned for 2 p.m. today at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Matson, who died Tuesday, was born in Granville, Ill.

He was a longtime Spokane resident and worked for the city of Spokane as a draftsman for more than 40 years. He retired in 1967.

He was a member of Central Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 246, the Scottish Rite Bodies and the El Katif Shrine.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Myrtle Matson, at home; one son, Donald Matson of Pasco; four grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.

Gerald Hanson Rosalia

At his request, no service will be held for Gerald D. Hanson.

Mr. Hanson, who died Saturday, was born in North Dakota.

He served in the Navy from 1948 until 1968 and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by two daughters, Diane Bjerke of Honolulu and Sandra Badger of Fairbanks, Alaska; his former wife, Teruko Martin of Honolulu; one brother, Clarence Hanson of Rosalia; three sisters, Mildred Mix of Spokane, Alice Diamond of Columbus, Ohio, and June Shoffner of Graham, N.C.; and five grandchildren.

James Courtney Spokane

No service will be held for James T. Courtney, 75, at his request. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mr. Courtney, who was born in North Dakota, died Sunday.

He lived in Spokane for more than 70 years and worked as a yard master for Great Northern Railroad.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3067 in Deer Park and the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 45 in Spokane.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Courtney, at home; his mother, Katherine Kain of Spokane; one sister, Pat Hjort of Otis Orchards; and one brother, John Kain of Kalispell, Mont.

Annie Kinderman Spokane

Memorial service for Annie Lee Kinderman, 63, will be held in September. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of cremation.

Mrs. Kinderman, who died Saturday, was born in Elgin, Texas.

She moved to Spokane in 1957 and worked as a bartender at the Spokane Club for 18 years.

Her husband, Donald Kinderman, died in 1992.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Evans and Debbie Whitsett, both of Spokane; one sister, Mary James of Austin, Texas; four brothers, Charles Jarmon of Austin, Leon Jarmon of Houston, Jesse Jarmon of Portland and Carl Jarmon of Los Angeles; three grandchildren, one stepgrandson, four greatgranddaughters and one stepgreatgranddaughter.

Clifford Keller Spokane

Mr. Keller, 69, died Saturday. He was born in San Francisco.

He and his wife moved to Spokane from Portland in 1977. He sold recreational vehicles for 15 years in the Spokane area and retired in 1989.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sue Keller, at home; three sons, Paul Keller of Portland, Greg Keller of Monroe, Wash., and John Dietrich of Manson, Wash.; one daughter, Diane Fivecoat of Vancouver, Wash.; 13 grandchildren and 32 greatgrandchildren.

George Simmons Kennewick

Memorial service for George Simmons, 73, was held Monday at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Kennewick.

Mr. Simmons, a former 20-year Spokane resident, died Friday at Kennewick General Hospital. He was born in Plentywood, Mont.

He worked for the Postal Service 35 years. He spent 20 years in Spokane and the last 15 in Kennewick before retiring in 1981 as postmaster in Kennewick.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Simmons, of Sun City, Ariz.; one son, George Simmons of Woodinville, Wash.; two stepdaughters, Sharon Armstrong and Sandra Sanders, both of Kennewick; one stepson, Dick Cecil of Richland; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Gaynell Bohlman Coeur d’Alene

Memorial graveside service for Gaynell Lee Bohlman, 82, is planned for 11 a.m. Monday at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bohlman, a former Athol, Idaho, resident, died Tuesday at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.

She was born in Salem, Ore., and was a homemaker. She moved to Coeur d’Alene from Athol in 1957.

Her first husband, Howard Brown, died in 1957. Her second husband, Ed Bohlman, died in 1976. She is survived by two sons, Vernon Brown of Post Falls and Noel Brown of St. Maries; one sister, Kathleen Sacco of Spokane; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

John `Jack’ Schultz Spokane

Memorial service for John E. “Jack” Schultz, 58, is planned for 11 a.m. today at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Cremation will precede. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Schultz, who died Sunday, was born in Tacoma.

He served in the Army and worked for Columbia Cabinets as a cabinetmaker. He was a former assistant scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 22 and a past president of the Northwest Kiwanis Club.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne Schultz, at home; one daughter, Dee Dee Buchanan of Colbert; one son, John Schultz of Spokane; his parents, John and Helen Schultz of Las Vegas; two sisters, Joan Goodwin of Hoquiam, Wash., and Carolyn Sheldon of Mississippi; and three grandchildren.
