Reynolds Submits Test To Iaaf

Associated Press

World record-holder Butch Reynolds said Friday that two representatives of the governing body of international track and field made an unannounced visit to his home to request a urine sample.

Reynolds gave the sample Thursday to the representatives from the International Amateur Athletic Federation at his suburban Westerville home, then went to a local hospital for an independent urinalysis.

A nursing supervisor confirmed Reynolds had his urine tested at St. Ann’s Hospital on Thursday, but could not comment on the results.

Reynolds, 30, a gold and silver medalist in the 1988 Olympics, has held the world record of 43.29 seconds in the 400 meters since 1988.

He has been in a legal battle with the IAAF since it suspended him in 1990 for nearly 2-1/2 years after he allegedly tested positive for steroids.

He denies ever taking steroids.
