If You Can’t Say Anything Nice, Better Call Cosmo

Compiled By Staff Writer Rick Bo

Celebrities dissing celebrities is the theme of Cosmopolitan magazine’s “Star bright, star bite!” issue. To wit:

Ethan Hawke: “I hate Emma Thompson. I think she and Glenn Close should get together and do a movie called ‘We Simper Smugly.’ Costarring Robin Williams.”

Janet Jackson: “Do I hate Madonna? A lot of people ask me that. Hate is a strong word. But if I did hate her, I’d have valid reasons.”

Julia Roberts, commenting on Nick Nolte: “While he can be charming and very nice, he’s also completely disgusting.”

Bette Midler: “I didn’t read Geraldo Rivera’s autobiography, but I’ve been told he wrote in it that I was sexually ‘insatiable’ … I slept with Geraldo. That’s a completely humiliating thing to have to admit. I just deny I was ‘insatiable.”’

Loose talk

David Spade, ditching up dirt on “Saturday Night Live”: “Massimo Troisi (died) shortly after filming ‘Il Postino.’ Why can’t Sylvester Stallone make this sort of commitment?”

But when it comes to catty, she’s the queen

Kitty Kelley turns 54 today.

At least she knows how to trigger a reaction

And this from “Seinfeld” co-star Jason Alexander, on “Dennis Miller Live”: “I once went to speak at a school, and there was a 16-year-old girl (who) says to me, ‘You know what? I don’t care what I do, I just want to be famous.’ And I thought, you know, I should really just shoot her in the head because it would serve two things: It would make her famous as the girl that Jason Alexander shot in the head, and it would, you know, spare the world of the banality of the rest of her life.”

Which went over really well with Don King

Seventeen-year-old singer/sitcom star Brandy, on the other hand, can be sickeningly sweet. “I’m nice to everybody,” she tells TV Guide. “I’m like, ‘Hi, my name is Brandy!’ And I’ll give people a hug. I’ll go up to people and say things like ‘I like your hair.’ Stuff like that.”

Guess it really is going to be quite the crew

Former Motley Crue vocalist Vince Neil goes to court April 22 in his suit against his former bandmates, whom he claims dumped him four years ago after getting a $25 million record deal. Among the all-star witness list: drummer Tommy Lee, his current wife Pamela Anderson, and his ex-wife Heather Locklear.

By now, she should be getting the picture

Lee and Anderson’s recent lawsuit against Penthouse publisher Bob Guccione over an allegedly stolen tape of them having sex was only the latest straw. Polaroids of their wedding night were published in the French Penthouse, while racy photos of Anderson were pilfered from her trailer on the set of the upcoming “Barb Wire” movie. Said a spokesman: “Pam’s learned to be more careful now about her personal life and where she puts things.”
