Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: My husband comes from a line of “keepers,” and my family are “tossers,” so when he finds a use for something he’s been saving “for later” it’s always a big deal. His mother saved his lunch box from when he was in elementary school!

He wanted to make up a tool kit for our daughter to take with her and the lunch box was a perfect case. It held a small hammer, a screwdriver, a wrench, assorted nails and screws, etc. - Donna Fairlee, Schenectady, N.Y.

Dear Heloise: When my two sons wanted to sleep in bunk beds, I put foam pipe insulation (usually gray foam tube with a lengthwise slit) on the top bunk frame.

This keeps the bottom bunk sleeper from bumping his head when he gets up in the morning. - Dr. Jeffrey Meffert, San Antonio
