Sugar-Free, Flavor-Full
(From For the record, December 12, 1996:) Chocolate Chalet is the Silverlake Mall store that carries P.J. Fudge chocolates made in Coeur d’Alene. The store’s name was wrong in a listing in Wednesday’s IN Food section. The chocolates also are available at Northwest Gourmet in Spokane.
So what do you do if you have visions of sugarplums dancing in your head, but you can’t eat sugar?
P.J. Fudge in Coeur d’Alene produces premium, sugar-free chocolates sweetened with maltitol (diabetics should still check with their doctor first). Brothers Phil and John Goodlander also offer regular, sugar-sweetened versions of their tasty treats. One bite, and you’ll dance all night.
Price: Half-pound box of assorted chocolates, about $6 ($6.50 sugar-free); 1-pound box, about $12 ($13 sugar-free).
