Hints From Heloise
Dear Heloise: Last Christmas my best friend gave me a large glass candleholder. I used it once with the candle she gave me to use in it. Well, the candle was not a dripless one and the wax is stuck all over the inside of it. Do you have a way of removing wax from fragile large candleholders? - Helen Lerman, South Lake Tahoe, Calif.
Stick the candleholders in the freezer overnight. The next morning, you should be able to flick the wax off or it should pop right out. Then, just wash and rinse well. Next time, before putting a candle in it, lightly spray the inside with nonstick vegetable spray to make removal of melted wax a breeze. - Heloise
Dear Heloise: I have noticed something at the supermarket I wish all manufacturers would do. Foil safety seals in some bottles now have a little pulltab on top so you don’t have to stab the seals to break them. These pulltabs are great. Just tug and they easily come off in one neat piece.
These would be especially good on bottles of things like bleach that can hurt someone or something if splashed out when breaking the seal. - Terri Dipperstein, Ventura, Calif.
I agree! My compliments to companies that provide that handy tab. - Heloise
