Lot Attendant, Shop Robbed At Gunpoint

From Staff And Wire Reports

A parking lot attendant and a sandwich shop were robbed at gunpoint Monday, police said. No one was hurt in either heist.

The first robbery occurred at the parking lot at Sprague and Stevens.

A lot attendant told police a man approached his booth about 4 p.m. and showed him a gun.

The robber - a black man in his 20s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 210 pounds - demanded money, police said.

When the attendant refused to give him any money, the man reached into the cash register, grabbed a fistful of bills and ran east on Sprague.

The attendant said the robber was wearing a black shirt, white shorts and a black cap.

The second robbery occurred about 6 p.m. at the Subway sandwich shop, 5105 N. Division.

A white man between 35 and 40 years old entered the store and walked behind the counter, police said.

He pulled a handgun and demanded cash, then ran away with the money. Police refused to say how much the man got.

Witnesses told police the bandit was 5 feet 8 inches tall, 150 pounds, with red hair and brown eyes. He was wearing blue jeans, a plaid shirt and a dark baseball cap.
