Hints From Heloise

King Features Syndicate

Dear Heloise: To cut down the number of washings of my electric blanket, I made a cover for it, using two unwanted or leftover bedsheets that I sewed on the top and both sides and partway of each side on the bottom end.

Just slip this over the electric blanket, the top end of the blanket going in first to the closed end of the sheets. This leaves the cords hanging out at the foot. The partway sewing at each side of the bottom prevents the blanket from slipping out.

You can use the same idea for a comforter cover. Just leave the foot end open, then make buttonholes on one side and buttons on the other. - Emma Caples, Springfield, Mo.
