Man Crashes, Dies After Hitting Stalled Car

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Greenacres man died Wednesday after he wrecked his car on Interstate 90. Lawrence W. Nichols, 36, suffered massive head injuries in the early morning collision, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Nichols was driving west on I-90 near the Sullivan Road exit about 1 a.m. when he hit a car parked on the shoulder, troopers said.

The parked car had run out of gasoline, WSP Sgt. Chris Powell said.

Nichols lost control of his car, which slid into the median, rolled twice and landed in the eastbound lanes.

Nichols, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, was thrown from his car, troopers said.

The driver of the parked car was standing nearby but wasn’t hurt, Powell said. He was able to get gas and drive away.
