Edna (Palmer) Harvey Oldtown, Idaho

Memorial service for Edna B. (Palmer) Harvey, 99, is planned for 3 p.m. today at Newport, Wash., Seventh-day Adventist Church. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Harvey, who was born in Absarokee, Mont., died Saturday.

In 1918, she married John Harvey in Bozeman, Mont. They came to Oldtown in 1981 from Milton-Freewater, Ore.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Her husband died in 1982.

Survivors include three daughters, Genevieve Buck of Oldtown, Bessie Jacobson of Solway, Minn., and Joan Harvey Gunter of Sacramento, Calif.; a brother, Leonard Palmer of Sprague, Ore.; a sister, Amy Wall of Kremlin, Mont.; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Alice Boviall Kellogg

Service for Alice I. Boviall, 92, will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at American Lutheran Church in Kellogg. Inurnment will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Spirit Lake, Idaho. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Boviall, who was born in Moscow, Idaho, died Thursday.

She lived in Spirit Lake until 1944, when she moved to Smelterville, Idaho. She was a homemaker and mother.

Mrs. Boviall was a member of the JoAnna Circle, American Lutheran Church and the Grandmothers Club, and was honored as Grandmother of the Year in 1980.

She was also a member of the NABA Review No. 1 and was the first person in North Idaho to win the $10,000 lottery in 1989.

Her husband, George, died in 1970.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Hall of Oregon and Patricia Shewmaker of Nevada; two stepdaughters, Lorraine O’Reilly of Coeur d’Alene and Phyllis Ellingston of Wallace; a brother, Harry Hegge of Rathdrum, Idaho; a special friend, Marguerite Gallaher of Smelterville; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Della Melaas Spokane

Family graveside service for Della Jane Melaas, 70, is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. today at Fairmount Memorial Park. Memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Melaas, who was born in Odessa, Wash., died Sunday.

She moved to Spokane in 1948 from Odessa. In 1949 she married Carl Melaas in Spokane.

Mrs. Melaas worked for Armour Meat Packing from 1950 to 1956 and then for Rosauer’s supermarkets. She retired in 1986.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was the program director for Keenagers, was the church photographer and was involved with numerous church committees.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Kenneth Melaas, and a daughter, Judy Foster of Spokane; her mother, Elsie Delzer of Coeur d’Alene; a brother, Harvey Delzer of Odessa; two sisters, Marianne Schelin of Coeur d’Alene and Devonna Bonney of Elgin, Ore.; two granddaughters; two stepgrandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.

Josephine Rogers Santa, Idaho

Memorial service for Josephine H. Rogers, 80, will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries. Mrs. Rogers, who was born in Missoula, Mont., died Monday.

She graduated from high school in Missoula and lived in Eastern Montana, California, and North Dakota before moving to Idaho Falls.

Mrs. Rogers did volunteer work for several years with the American Red Cross blood programs and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

She moved to Santa in 1972.

Survivors include her husband of more than 59 years, Charles; two sons, Lee Rogers of Utah and William Rogers of Santa; and two granddaughters, Rebecca and Leslie.

Sister Glenrose Dalrymple, S.P. Spokane

Vigil for Sister Glenrose Dalrymple, S.P., (Sister William Mary), 83, will be at 7 p.m. today at Mount St. Joseph. Funeral Mass is planned for 10 a.m. Thursday at Mount St. Joseph. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Sister Glenrose, who was born in Casper, Wyo., died Monday after 65 years as a Sister of Providence.

She was raised in Great Falls, Mont., and graduated in 1932 from St. Thomas Home High School in Great Falls. In 1933 she entered the Sisters of Providence Novitiate in Seattle.

Sister Glenrose professed her first vows in 1934 and her final vows in 1937.

She received her teaching credentials in 1943 and a bachelor’s of education in 1951 from the College of Great Falls. She earned a master’s degree in education in 1963 from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb., and completed the CREDO Program in 1977 from Gonzaga University.

Her ministry assignments included teaching in Des Plaines, Ill., from 1936 to 1946; Our Lady of Lourdes Academy in Wallace from 1946 to 1947 and again from 1955 to 1956; schools in Great Falls and Missoula from 1947 to 1953; St. John Parochial School in Colfax, Wash., from 1953 to 1955; and schools in Glasgow, Mont., and Walla Walla from 1956 to 1964. She also was a teacher and choral teacher, and adviser to the annual staff and school newspaper staff at Sacred Heart Academy in Missoula from 1964 to 1974.

In 1974 Sacred Heart Academy closed and she went to St. Thomas Home High School as the day-care director until 1975. She then became a reference librarian at the College of Great Falls, where she served for one year.

From 1977 to 1978 she was assigned to provincial administration in Spokane as a chronicler and librarian. From 1980 to 1981 she worked at St. Mary Community Hospital in Walla Walla as a secretary in the quality assurance program. She was director of the Religious Life Center from 1982 to 1984 and again in 1987. She was a secretary in the office of pastoral care at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane from 1984 to 1986.

Sister Glenrose retired at Mount St. Joseph in 1987 but served as the province librarian until 1990. After 1990, she continued to provide numerous services to the sisters.

She is survived by a sister, Edythe Sliger of Seattle.

Angelo Pasquarelli Apache Junction, Ariz.

Memorial service for Angelo Pasquarelli, 77, will be at 1 p.m. today at Bunker Desert View Funeral Home in Mesa, Ariz.

Mr. Pasquarelli, who was born and raised in the Stamford, Conn., area, died Sunday.

He served in the Army during World War II and worked as a professional musician in the Spokane and Coeur d’Alene areas for more than 30 years, under the stage name Tony Pasco.

Mr. Pasquarelli moved to Apache Junction 15 years ago.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Patricia; two daughters, Linda McMackin and Judy Weinmann, both of Spokane; and four grandchildren.

Isabel Hirschel Spokane

Visitation for Isabel J. Hirschel, 76, will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Thursday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Private service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Hirschel, who was born in South Australia, died Saturday.

She lived in Tekoa, Wash., from 1946 to 1980, and she was a member of the American Lawn Bowling Association and the Spokane Valley Senior Citizen Association.

Mrs. Hirschel held dual citizenship in the United States and Australia.

She moved to Spokane more than a year ago and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Earl; two sons, Lee Hirschel of Spokane and Wayne Hirschel of Clarkston, Wash.; a daughter, Pauline Keeney of Warden, Wash.; a sister, Phyllis Barker of Australia; six grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Kenneth Peterson Coeur d’Alene

Visitation for M. Kenneth “Ken” Peterson, 89, will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Presbyterian Church in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery, Riverview Section in Coeur d’Alene.

Mr. Peterson, who was born in Goodland, Kan., died Monday.

He graduated from high school in Colorado and attended Colorado College and Kinman Business College. He worked at J.S. Brown Mercantile before moving to California in 1932.

Mr. Peterson worked at S.E. Rykoff Co. in Los Angeles and later worked in the accounting department at Southern California Edison Co.

He moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1946 and worked at Interstate Telephone Co. in Spokane, which later became part of the General Telephone and Electric. Mr. Peterson retired from GTE in 1973.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and served as a committee member for Boy Scout Troop 4. He was a charter member of the North Idaho Chapter of Self-Help for the Hard of Hearing People Inc. and was a volunteer at Coeur d’Alene Homes for five years.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Margaret; two sons, Robert Peterson of Missouri and James Peterson of Moscow, Idaho; a daughter, Kay Saarinen of Seattle; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Joseph Parkes Oldtown, Idaho

Graveside service for Joseph E. Parkes, 67, is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at the Dry Creek Cemetery near Troy, Idaho. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Parkes, who died Sunday, was born in Potlatch, Idaho.

He worked in the lumber industry for more than 40 years at Diamond DAW and retired as a scaler from Crown Pacific in 1995. He lived the past 28 years in Oldtown, moving there from Coeur d’Alene.

Mr. Parkes had spent two season in the Northwoods Performing Arts.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Marilyn; four daughters, Linda Stiner of Spokane, Diana and Connie Parkes, both of Oldtown, and Janna Winterfield of Newport; his mother, Ethel Whitcomb of Moscow, Idaho; a brother, Jim Parkes of Diamond Lake, Wash.; a sister, Sally Benson of Moscow; and three grandchildren.

Trudy Brown Colfax, Wash.

Gathering for Trudy Brown, 70, will be from 2 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the family farm east of Colfax. Memorial service will follow at 7 p.m.

Mrs. Brown, who was born in Rockford, died July 27.

She and her husband Malcolm farmed east of Colfax for more than 50 years.

Her husband died in 1994.

Survivors include three daughters, Alberta Conrad of Seattle, Chris Schierman of Bandon, Ore., and Marla McCune of Vancouver, Wash.; a sister, Doris Steger of Boise; two brothers, Bob Goebel of Spokane and Fred Goebel of Moscow, Idaho; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Byrl Goodwin Jr. Spokane

Memorial service for Byrl T. Goodwin Jr., 78, is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday at Fairmount Memorial Park Sunset Mausoleum Chapel. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Goodwin, who died Sunday, was born in Pablo, Mont.

He graduated in 1938 from Springdale (Wash.) High School and later served in the Army Air Corps during World War II in Europe.

Mr. Goodwin was well-known locally in the automotive industry, working for local dealerships as a general sales manager for many years.

Most recently, Mr. Goodwin, was employed in recreational vehicle sales and had spent recent winters in Southern California.

His wife since 1949, Helen, died in July.

Survivors include two brothers, Gene and Jack, both of Spokane.

Robert Anderson Spokane

Graveside service and burial for Robert LaMar “Bob” Anderson, 81, is scheduled for 10 a.m. today at Sandy City Cemetery in Sandy, Utah. Walker Sanderson Funeral Home in Orem, Utah, is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Anderson, who was born in Provo, Utah, died Saturday in Provo while visiting family.

He graduated in 1934 from Jordan High School in Sandy, where he was the editor of the yearbook.

Mr. Anderson served in the Coast Guard from 1942 to 1945.

He worked for the Equitable Life Assurance Society of New York in the administration services sector in Salt Lake City, Spokane, Honolulu, Van Nuys, Calif., and Century City, Calif. He achieved the certification of chartered life underwriter.

Mr. Anderson returned to Spokane after his retirement.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Cub Scouts, Indians Guides and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Survivors include his wife, Velma; two sons, Robert Anderson of Barrigada, Guam, and Thomas Anderson of The Colony, Texas; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

Larry Clark Spokane

Memorial service for Larry D. Clark, 71, is set for 1 p.m. today at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Clark, who was born in Marcus, Wash., died July 30.

He graduated in 1945 from Colville High School and served in the Marine Corps during World War II and the Korean War.

Mr. Clark received his bachelor of arts degree from Gonzaga University and his master’s in education from Whitworth College. He worked as an educator with the Spokane School District for more than 30 years and retired in 1992.

He had owned a tax consulting business since 1962.

Mr. Clark was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church and he served on its board.

Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn Clark of Seattle; a son, Gregory Clark of Dallas; two daughters, Diane Moe of Spokane and Holly Clark of Seattle; a son, Steven Clark of New York; his mother, Vera Clark of Phoenix; a sister, Betty Coburn of Phoenix; a brother, Floyd Clark of Colville; and two grandsons.

Memorial contributions may be made to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church or the Marine Corps League of Spokane.

Sally James Spokane

Memorial service for Sally Marie James, 58, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the United Church of Christ in Cheney. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. James, a 10-year resident of Spokane, died July 28.

She was born in England and worked as a cashier for the Air Force.

Survivors include three sons, Kurt James of Spokane, and Karl and Kevin James, both of England; a daughter, Karen Haddaway of England; four brothers, Terry, Richard and Steven Bannister, all of England, and Peter Bannister of Australia; two sisters, Jill Bannister of England and Anne Holloway of Airway Heights; and four grandchildren.

Marvin Michalson Mead

At his request, no service will be held for Marvin O. Michalson. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Michalson, who died Sunday, was 79. He was born in Harlem, Mont.

He served in the Army from 1940 to 1944 and worked as a salesman for Montgomery Ward department store.

Mr. Michalson was a 35-year resident of Spokane and a member of the Moose Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1474.

Survivors include his wife, Fern; a son, Rodney Michalson of Spokane; a brother, LeRoy Michalson of Helena; a sister, Beverly Friede of Havre, Mont.; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
