Douglas Mason Coeur d’Alene

Graveside service for Douglas L. Mason, 55, will be today at 2 p.m. at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mason, who was born in Spokane, died Sunday.

He graduated from high school in St. Regis, Mont., and from the University of Montana. Mr. Mason worked for the U.S. Forest Service in Montana and Coeur d’Alene before retiring after 22 years of service.

He was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Church of Christ and a former member of the Mayor’s Committee on the Handicapped, Toastmasters, NARAE and the Coeur d’Alene Rotary.

Survivors include two sons, Douglas and Timothy Mason; his parents, Lee and Hazel Mason; and one brother, Ronald Mason.

Memorials may be made to the Church of Christ Christian School.

Alfred Nygaard Potlatch, Idaho

Service for Alfred J. Nygaard, 92, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Presbyterian Church in Potlatch. Burial will follow at the Freeze Cemetery north of Potlatch. Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Nygaard, who was born in Houston County, Minn., died Monday.

As a child he moved west with his family to the Potlatch area, and in 1929 he married Pauline Kuehner in Lewiston. They made their home in Potlatch.

Mr. Nygaard was employed at the Potlatch Lumber Co. at the Potlatch mill and retired in 1970 as a log scaler. After his retirement, he purchased a small farm near Potlatch, where he farmed and raised cattle.

He was a member of Potlatch Grace Lutheran Church, Potlatch Lions Club and Moscow Moose Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, five grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Potlatch Ambulance Fund or to the Potlatch Lions Club.

Richard Rolan Plummer, Idaho

Private family service for Richard W. Rolan, 66, will be held at a later date. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rolan, who was born in Arizona, died Sunday.

He grew up and graduated from high school in Arizona in 1949 and then worked in the construction business throughout the United States.

Mr. Rolan also worked in Alaska, Norway and Saudi Arabia before moving to St. Maries in 1973.

He continued to work in construction and moved to California and Alaska before settling in Plummer in 1994.

Survivors include a son, Ronald Rolan of Alaska; two daughters, Terri Ethridge of St. Maries and Karen Davis of Texas; a brother, Charles Rolan of Nevada; one sister, Nancy Stanley of California; and four grandchildren.

James Griffin Coeur d’Alene

No service is planned for James Alden Griffin, 78, at his request. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Griffin, who was born in California, died Sunday.

He moved to the Coeur d’Alene area nine years ago. He had worked as an electrical engineer at Rockwell International in Los Angeles in the 1970s.

Mr. Griffin was a member of the California Sheriffs Association.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Zella Green St. Maries

Service for Zella D. Green, 62, will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at YatesHodge Funeral Home in St. Maries. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries.

Mrs. Green, who was born in Alberta, Canada, died Sunday.

She grew up and graduated from high school in Alberta and then attended the University of Edmonton before moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1954.

Mrs. Green taught school in Valleyford before moving to the Coeur d’Alene area and teaching in Rathdrum, Idaho, and Post Falls.

She moved to St. Maries in 1974 and was a homemaker. She served as the secretary for the St. Maries Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Mrs. Green also worked as a volunteer for Valley Vista Care Center.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Walter; a son, Roy Green of St. Maries; one daughter, Celia Turner of Coeur d’Alene; her brother, Don McCaw of Harrison, Idaho; and three grandchildren.

Jess Langford Hayden Lake, Idaho

No service will be held for Jess Willard Langford, 84, at his request. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Langford, who was born in Coeur d’Alene, died Monday.

He was a longtime area resident and had worked for the civil service and helped build the Lower Monument Dam on the Snake River.

Mr. Langford retired as a field manager with the civil service in 1975.

He was a member of the Coeur d’Alene Methodist Church, the Coeur d’Alene Elks Lodge and the Eagles Lodge.

His wife, Blanche died in 1986.

Survivors include one brother. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Idaho, 280 Prairie Ave., Coeur d’Alene 83814.

Beverly Morter Bonners Ferry, Idaho

Service for Beverly Morter, 71, was Monday in Bonners Ferry. Bonners Ferry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Morter, who was born in Oregon, died Thursday.

She had worked as a secretary in Oregon, Washington and California before moving to Bonners Ferry, where she became a farmer.

Mrs. Morter had lived in Bonners Ferry for many years.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Emery.

Survivors include her husband, O.H. Morter; four children, Cindy Emery of Spokane, Brenda Hall of Bonners Ferry, Michael Morter of Alaska and Kim Olson of Tacoma; a sister, Marge Pease, and two brothers, Ray Brown and Arlyn Van Cleave, all of Oregon; and four grandchildren.

June Miller Priest River, Idaho

Memorial service for June Loretta Miller, 83, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Priest River. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Miller, who was born in Spokane, died Saturday.

She was raised in Washtucna, Wash., and later lived in Walla Walla.

In 1933 she married Leo Miller and in 1952 they moved to Priest River.

Mrs. Miller was a homemaker.

Her husband died in 1987.

Survivors include a daughter, Dixie Howard of Priest River; two sons, Leo Miller of Post Falls and Lyall Miller of Byron, Calif.; a sister, Bessie Nave of Quincy, Wash.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
