Win Self Seven Bays, Wash.
Funeral Mass for Win M. Self, 87, will be at 11 a.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Davenport, Wash. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery in Spokane. Strate Funeral Home in Davenport is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Self, who was born in Lacrosse, Wash., died Sunday.
He graduated from North Central High School and in 1935 married Helen Macho in Spokane.
Mr. Self worked for many years for Consolidated Freight Lines and in 1945 purchased Odessa Tractor and Implement. He sold the company in 1957 and moved back to Spokane, where he sold real estate.
In 1975, Mr. Self moved to Seven Bays and was active in promoting recreation on Lake Roosevelt. He also was involved in founding the net pen fish program and pheasant program.
Mr. Self was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Davenport Lions Club, the Soil Conservation District and the Northeastern Washington Tourism.
His wife died in 1997.
Survivors include two daughters, Rosemary King of Spokane and Charlotte Lombard of Manchester, Wash.; a brother, Ken Self of Portland; two sisters, Bernadine Leibrecht of Spokane and Mildred Goff of Chatsworth, Calif.; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Sigvald Stenersen Spokane
Graveside service for Sigvald Johan Stenersen, 86, is planned for 10 a.m. today at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Stenersen, who was born in Sandpoint, died Sunday.
He moved with his family to Eiken, Norway, in 1914 and remained there until 1930, when he returned to the United States.
In 1940, he married Edna Christensen. They settled in the Spokane area.
Mr. Stenersen worked in the construction industry.
He was a longtime member of the Washington and Idaho Laborers Union Local 238, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and was a past board member of the Union Gospel Mission.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Norma Larson of Port Orchard, Wash.; two sons, David Stenersen of Spokane and Stanley Stenersen of Federal Way, Wash.; a brother and two sisters, all in Norway; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Charles Irving Sr. Spokane
Visitation for Charles Earl Irving Sr., 77, will be from noon to 6 p.m. today and Thursday at Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral will be at 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
Mr. Irving, who was born in Ethel, Miss., died Monday.
He served in the Air Force from 1941 to 1945 as a radio operator, gunner and mechanic, flying 32 missions overseas. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross.
In 1942 he married Catherine Lyons in Coeur d’Alene. They moved to Spokane in 1945.
Mr. Irving was a self-employed roofing and siding contractor.
He was a member of Fourth Memorial Church.
His wife died in 1986.
Survivors include four sons, Phil, Marc and Charles Irving Jr., all of Spokane, and Pat Irving of Fall River, Mass.; three daughters, Lynda Sanborn, Sheila Rutherford and Theresa McMullen, all of Spokane; and 10 grandchildren.
Durlyn Delbridge Spokane
Funeral for Durlyn G. Delbridge, 22, will be at 10 a.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
Mr. Delbridge, a lifetime Spokane resident, died Thursday.
He worked as a laborer in various positions.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Ada and Garold Powell of Spokane; his father and stepmother, Donald and Sandy Delbridge of Spokane; six brothers, Ryan, Devlind, Derek and Brady Delbridge, all of Spokane, Bryson Delbridge of Des Moines, Wash., and Layne Delbridge of Davenport, Iowa; three sisters, Ramona Delbridge of Spokane, Elida Leavitt of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Elonda Schuler of Boise.
Marguerite Kindschi Spokane
Service for Marguerite E. Kindschi, 89, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.
Mrs. Kindschi, who was born in Nebraska, died Friday.
She graduated from high school in Nebraska in 1929 and then moved to Washington state and began a banking career in the Metaline Falls area.
Mrs. Kindschi had worked in banks in Spokane, Seattle and New York State throughout her career.
Her husband, Dr. Jean Kindschi, died in 1981.
Survivors include a sister, Velma Johnson of Nine Mile, Mont.; and a special friend, A.J. Holter of Spokane.
Marvin Gray Spokane
Vigil service for Marvin W. Gray, is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Gray, 72, died Friday.
He was born in Missouri, and served in the Army in the 80th Infantry Division during World War II.
He was a 50-year resident of Spokane and worked for 25 years for S and P Meats as a maintenance person in their truck fleet.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Dorothy; a son, Edward Gray of Spokane; two daughters, Janice Anderson of Cocolalla, Idaho, and Mary Weimer of Colville, Wash.; a sister, Louise Heimbigner of Spokane; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kenneth ‘Bud’ Talley Oakesdale, Wash.
Funeral for Kenneth “Bud” Talley, 61, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Oakesdale Baptist Church. Private family burial service will follow at 2 p.m. at Pines Cemetery in Spokane. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Talley, who was born in Lordsberg, N.M., died Sunday from cancer.
He was raised in New Mexico and Arizona and graduated from high school in Graham County, Ariz.
Mr. Talley began working in the mines of Kellogg and Mullan, Idaho, and then worked in construction. He then worked for Central Pre-Mix of Spokane until he purchased the Colfax Radiator Shop in the late 1980s. He operated that until purchasing Advanced Muffler Shop in Pullman five years ago. He retired in 1997.
He married Dorothy Rice in 1981 in Reno, Nev.
Mr. Talley was a member of Oakesdale Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Charles Talley of Leadville, Colo., and William Talley of Metaline Falls, Wash.; two stepdaughters, Darla Bedow and Deanne Zolman, both of Spokane; his mother, Bessie Haven of Phoenix; a brother, Charles Talley of Spokane; a half-brother, Gene Havens of Phoenix; and seven grandchildren.
Walter ‘Joe’ Skeen Spokane
Memorial service for Walter F. “Joe” Skeen, 61, will be at 3 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home.
Mr. Skeen, a Spokane-area resident for 30 years, died Sunday.
He was born in Pendleton, Ore., and worked in construction as a drywall taper.
Survivors include his wife, Carole; a daughter, Carrie Rawlins of Deer Park; two sons, Brad Skeen of Newport, Wash., and Jack Skeen of Seattle; a sister, Janet Magby of Spokane; and six grandchildren.
Olympia Morris Spokane
Funeral for Olympia Morris, 72, was Monday at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mrs. Morris, a 49-year Spokane resident, died Thursday.
She was born in Russia, and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Morris was a member of Garland Congregational Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Thomas; and a son, Billy Morris of Spokane.
Cecelia Croteau Colville, Wash.
Funeral for Cecelia S. Croteau will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Colville Seventh-day Adventist Church. Burial will follow at Mountain View Park in Colville. Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Croteau, who was a 38-year resident of Colville, died Sunday. She was 80.
She was born in Fabyan, Conn., and graduated from Tourlotte High School in North Grosvenor Dale, Conn.
Following high school, she worked for a time as a housekeeper and later for the American Optical Company.
In 1940, she married Henry Croteau in North Grosvenor Dale and they moved to California in 1952 and lived in Salinas and Los Angeles.
They moved to Colville in 1960.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Roberta Engebretsen of Ocean Shores, Wash., Louise Pearson of Colville and Susan Daniel of Omak, Wash.; four sons, Maurice Croteau of Kennewick, Lawrence Croteau of Riverside, Calif., Mark Croteau of Colville and Wesley Croteau of Rescue, Calif.; two brothers, Armond Sorel of Woodstock, Conn., and Clarence Sorel of Putnam, Conn.; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Clifford Ayers Spokane
Funeral for Clifford R. Ayers, 84, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.
Mr. Ayers, who was born in Taber, Alberta, died Saturday.
He served in the Army and received a Purple Heart.
Mr. Ayers worked for Kaiser Aluminum for 25 years as a roller operator.
He was a member of the Valley Eagles, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1435 and the Sons of Norway.
Survivors include a sister, Gertrude Tinsley of Spokane; several grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
William Keogh Spokane
Memorial service for William John Keogh, 53, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pines Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Keogh, a lifetime Spokane resident Spokane, died Saturday.
He served in the Coast Guard and had been a longtime driver for Acme Concrete, as well as the owner and operator of William J. Contractors.
Mr. Keogh was the founder of the Stage Coach West band in which he also played.
Survivors include his wife of 29 years, Janyce; three sons, Bill Keogh of Spokane, Thomas Turner of Fort Campbell, Ky., and Jack Keogh of Coeur d’Alene; a daughter, Jessica Keogh of Spokane; his mother, Pearl Keogh of Spokane; and five grandchildren.
Bonnie Hubert Spokane
Memorial service for Bonnie O. Hubert, 69, was Saturday at Pines Cemetery.
Mrs. Hubert, who was born in Spokane, died May 13.
She was raised in Kirkland, Wash., and graduated from high school in Bellevue, Wash.
Mrs. Hubert then lived in Silverton, Ore., for about five years and then moved to Salem, Ore., where she worked as a matron at Hillcrest Girl’s School for about two years.
She graduated from Mt. Hood Community College with an associate degree.
Mrs. Hubert returned to Spokane 19 years ago and worked as a matron for the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center for seven years.
She was also a graphic artist.
Survivors include her mother, Drusilla Bolser of Spokane; a daughter, Jackie Redford of Spokane, and a son, Jerry Hubert, both of Spokane; a brother, Gene Bolser of Bellevue; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Virginia Siekerka Mead
Memorial service for Virginia R. Siekerka, 76, will be held at a later date. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Siekerka, who was born in Granville, Ill., died Sunday.
She worked as an occupational therapist at Riveridge Hospital in Illinois and moved to Spokane 13 years ago.
Mrs. Siekerka was a member of Eckankar and the Riveridge Association of Fine Arts.
Survivors include three brothers.
