A Sweet Spread
Who took the sour out of sauerkraut?
Mrs. Kleine’s Krelish, from Hamilton, Mont., is a sweet-tangy sauerkraut relish spiked with corn syrup, onions and bits of red bell pepper. Anne Kleine, who makes it from an old family recipe, recommends it on everything from tuna sandwiches to pizza.
Kleine, a retired hospice nurse, is donating a portion of the proceeds to hospice programs — a sweet gesture indeed.
Price: $4-$5 for 16 ounces.
Available: At Albertson’s supermarkets in Spokane and North Idaho; coming soon to Yoke’s, Excell and Super 1 stores.
