Frances (Porter) Moulton Spokane
Memorial service for Frances (Porter) Moulton, 88, will be at 4 p.m. today at St. John’s Cathedral. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Moulton, who was born in Salt Lake City, died Sunday.
She graduated from Rowland Hall School in Salt Lake City. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Barnard College of Columbia University in New York City.
Mrs. Moulton was a social worker in Philadelphia and in 1933 married the Rev. John Moulton. She was a homemaker.
From 1948 until 1952, she and her husband lived in Hawaii, where she taught Christian education. In 1952 they moved to Spokane.
She was an educator of church school teachers and served on various national boards for the Episcopal church.
In 1973 her husband retired, and they moved back to Hawaii and later moved to San Diego. In 1987 they moved back to Spokane.
Mrs. Moulton was a member of St. John’s Cathedral and did volunteer work for the Red Cross.
Survivors include her husband; a son, John Moulton of Spokane; two daughters, Jan Stahl of Boston and Susan Haaland of El Cajon, Calif.; a sister, Maybelle Gutteridge of Surrey, England; and eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Cathedral or the Spokane AIDS Network.
Eleanor Petersen Silverton, Idaho
Memorial service for Eleanor May Petersen, 86, will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Osburn Community Baptist Church. Shoshone Funeral Service in Wallace is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Petersen, who was born in Moscow, Idaho, died Monday.
She graduated from the Deaconess Nursing School in Spokane in 1934 and then moved to the Silver Valley in 1935.
She married James Petersen in Grandview, Wash., in 1936.
Mrs. Petersen worked as a registered nurse for 42 years at several local doctors’ offices, Wardner Hospital, Providence Hospital, Shoshone County Nursing Home and the Silver Wood Good Samaritan Center.
She was a member of the American Nurses Association and Osburn Community Baptist Church and was a former member of Wallace United Methodist Church.
Her husband died in 1990.
Survivors include a daughter, Karlene Jemison of Wallace; a son, James Petersen of The Dalles, Ore.; three brothers, Tom Martin of Vashon Island, Wash., John Martin of Arizona and Bob Martin of Gig Harbor, Wash.; two sisters, Pat Stockman of Lynnwood, Wash., and Betty Davis of Port Angeles, Wash.; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mary (Brown) Hauff Spokane
Funeral service for Mary Ann (Brown) Hauff, 59, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Private burial will be held at Pines Cemetery.
A 40-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Hauff, died Saturday. She was born in Orofino, Idaho.
She worked in the hospitality industry for many years, managing bars and card rooms.
Survivors include her husband, Jim; a son, Maurice Alerman of Otis Orchards; a daughter, Traci Phillips of Sandpoint; a brother, Bill Brown; two sisters, Arlene and Viola; and three grandchildren.
Loretta Reince Coeur d’Alene
Visitation for Loretta M. Reince, 76, will be Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Pius Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene. Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at a later date in Long Beach, Calif. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Reince, who was born in Lincoln, Wis., died Saturday.
She taught school in Wisconsin and California before retiring in 1984. She moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1995 and was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church choir.
Mrs. Reince was also a member of the Coeur d’Alene Rambling Rovers, sang with the 3Cs Coeur d’Aleers and was a volunteer at St. John Vianney School in Spokane.
Her husband of 24 years, Owen, died in 1969.
Survivors include three sons, Chuck Reince of Hayden, Idaho, and Tom and Bob Reince, both of California; two daughters, Mary Yates of Texas and Carol Nosches of California; a sister, Lorraine Dufeck of Wisconsin; and 16 grandchildren.

Ralph Schirr Las Vegas
No service will be held for Ralph H. Schirr, 81, at his request. Danekas Funeral Home in Ritzville, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Schirr, who was born in Sprague, Wash., died Monday.
He graduated from Sprague High School in 1934.
In 1969 he retired from farming after 40 years. He owned and operated the Sprague Check Inn Tavern from 1970 until 1975 when he moved to Spokane.
In 1994, he moved to Las Vegas.
Mr. Schirr was a member of the Sprague School Board for 13 years and had served as its chairman. He also was a past director of the board of the Edwall Grain Growers He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the HiYu Indian Gun Glub.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen; a daughter, Jo Schirr of Spokane; three stepchildren, Jerry Hester, Susan Thomson and Henri Ellen Hall; a granddaughter and four great-grandchildren.

Lester Gibson LaCrosse, Wash.
Memorial service for Lester Gibson, 83, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at LaCrosse Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the LaCrosse Cemetery. Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
A 30-year LaCrosse resident, Mr. Gibson, died Friday. He was born in Escambia County, Fla.
In 1959 he married Pearl Martin and worked as a foreman for the Union Pacific Railroad for many years.
Mr. Gibson also worked as a welder for McGregor Co. in Lacrosse and drove grain trucks until the age of 75.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge 155.
His wife died in 1994.
Survivors include a son, Chuck Gibson of Pensacola, Fla.; four daughters, Lois Startin, Norma Gibson and Leslie Thompson, all of LaCrosse, and Carol Smith of Florida; a brother, Forest Gibson of Ashburn, Ga.; and two sisters, Mary Weber of Lincoln, Neb., and Peggy Carney of Pensacola.
Gary Gibson St. Maries
Memorial service for Gary W. Gibson, 63, will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the St. Maries Eagles Lodge. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Gibson, who was born in St. Maries, died Sunday.
He graduated from St. Maries High School in 1953 and worked for Blue Ribbon Creamery.
Mr. Gibson later worked as a bookkeeper and car salesman for Chase Chevrolet before becoming a partner in the business in the 1980s.
He was a member of the St. Maries Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Laura; two sons, Jeff Gibson of California and Greg Gibson of St. Maries; a daughter, Elaine Green of Spokane; his mother, Margaret Gibson of St. Maries; a brother, Randy Gibson of St. Maries; and five grandchildren.

Lois Hodges Spokane
Funeral for Lois A. Hodges, 80, was Monday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Burial was at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mrs. Hodges, who was born in Harlowton, Mont., died Thursday.
She graduated from Harlowton High School in 1936 and married Ben Hodges in 1937.
In 1970, Mrs. Hodges moved to Spokane and was a homemaker. She also was a volunteer for the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Franklin, and a son, Gary Hodges, both of Spokane; a sister, Frances Brown of Stevensville, Mont.; a brother, Bill Warner; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Melrose Baker Spokane
No service will be held for E. Melrose “Mel” Baker, 95, at his request. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Baker, who was born in Jackson, Minn., died Thursday.
He graduated from the University of Washington and in 1966 retired from Darigold.
Mr. Baker moved to Spokane after his retirement.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Walker of Chewelah, Wash.; a son, Mick Baker of Woodinville, Wash.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Marilyn Larsen Spokane
Memorial service for Marilyn A. Larsen, 59, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Ms. Larsen, died Dec. 22.
She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1957 and worked as an optometrist at Western Optical for many years.
She was a member of the Salvation Army.
Ms. Larsen is survived by two aunts and five cousins.
Drusilla Lennox Spokane
Graveside service for Drusilla B. Lennox, 95, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Moscow City Cemetery. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A 70-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Lennox, died Monday.
She worked as a secretary and teller at the Federal Land Bank for 40 years.
Her husband, Edgar, died in 1983.
She has no surviving relatives.
Lucille Pierson Tekoa, Wash.
Visitation for Lucille Pierson, 90, will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Pierson, who was born in Steptoe, Wash., died Sunday. She lived in Spokane for 57 years before moving to a nursing home in Tekoa.
She was homemaker and a member of the Brotherhood of Friends Club, Moose Lodge 161 Auxiliary and Eagles Lodge Aerie 2 Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, Art; a son, Ron Pierson of Spokane; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
John Tomlinson Chewelah, Wash.
Graveside service for John P. “Tommy” Tomlinson, 92, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Chewelah Memorial Park. Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Chewelah is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Tomlinson, who was born in Polk, Tenn., died Saturday.
He moved to Chewelah in 1965 and worked at the Colville (Wash.) Machine Shop for 25 years. He also worked on small engines at his home.
He built the metal bridge in the Chewelah Park.
His wife, Ruthie, died in 1972.
Survivors include a son, Jim Widby of California; a daughter, Pat McCormick of Anchorage, Alaska; and six grandchildren.
Elsie Dean Spokane
Funeral service for Elsie L. Dean, 94, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pines Cemetery.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. Dean, died Monday.
Mrs. Dean and her husband owned and operated Dean’s Grocery in Otis Orchards for many years.
She also was a homemaker and a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints’ South Side Ward.
Her husband, Troy, died in 1980.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Dean of Liberty Lake and John Dean of Spokane; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Thelma Welch Spokane
Graveside service for Thelma P. Welch, 83, will be at the Elk River Cemetery in Pend Oreille County at a later date. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A 10-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Welch died Thursday.
Born in Palouse, Wash., Mrs. Welch worked as a restaurant cook for many years.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Welch of Spokane and Richard Welch of Seattle; two daughters, Shirley Strnot of Spokane and Mary Adams of Ohio; a brother, Delbert Averill of Bremerton; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
George Davis Spokane
Graveside service for George F. Davis, 80, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Pines Cemetery Mausoleum. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A 70-year Spokane resident, Mr. Davis, died Saturday. He was born in Toronto.
He served with the Army during World War II.
Mr. Davis retired as an operating engineer for the city of Spokane.
He was a member of Disabled American Veterans Post No. 6 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
Elsie (Ferguson) McCameron Colville, Wash.
No services will be held for Elsie L. (Ferguson) McCameron, 80, at her request. Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. McCameron, who was born in Ione, Wash., died Sunday.
She graduated from Ione High School. In 1938 she married John McCameron, and they made their home in Nelway, Wash., just north of Metaline Falls, Wash.
Mrs. McCameron operated a ceramic shop in Metaline Falls for 10 years. In 1976 she retired and moved to Colville.
Her husband died in 1989.
Survivors include two daughters, Sue Spears of Colville and Jan Lacock of Deary, Idaho; a brother, Daniel Ferguson of the Philippines; and six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Amy Satterstrom Eugene, Ore.
Memorial service for Amy E. Satterstrom, a former Spokane resident, will be at 11 a.m. Feb. 13 at First Covenant Church in Spokane. Private inurnment will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Englands’ Memorial Chapel in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Satterstrom, who was born in St. Paul, Minn., died Wednesday. She was 86.
She married Milton Satterstrom in 1938, and they moved to Spokane in 1948.
Mrs. Satterstrom worked as secretary for various insurance and mining companies.
She was a member of First Covenant Church and the Northwest Mining Association.
Her husband died in 1992, and she moved to Eugene.
Survivors include a daughter, Joy Ewell of Eugene; and two grandchildren.
Esther Swaffard Coeur d’Alene
Visitation for Esther P. Swaffard, 88, will be held today from 1-6 p.m. and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home. Service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Swaffard, who was born in Cisco, Texas, died Sunday.
She lived in California before moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1980.
Mrs. Swaffard was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church in Coeur d’Alene and the Fleet Reserve Association Auxiliary.
Her husband, Merrill, died in 1990.
Survivors include a daughter, Patty Singer of Coeur d’Alene; a son, Denny Swaffard of Newport, Wash.; two brothers, Ed and Fred Wende, both of Texas; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Louise (Knight) Guenther Spokane
No service will be held for Louise Agnes (Knight) Guenther, 88, at her request. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A 54-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Guenther died Saturday.
Born in Redstone, Mont., she graduated from high school in Plentywood, Mont., in 1927 and attended Teachers College in Dillon, Mont.
Mrs. Guenther taught school for six years. She married Ray Guenther in 1934 and was a homemaker.
During construction of the Farragut Naval Station on Lake Pend Oreille during World War II, she was in charge of the bond department.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Dennis Guenther of Spokane and Robert Guenther of Coeur d’Alene; and two grandchildren.
