Grandma Rubin’s Peppernuts don’t contain any pepper, or any nuts.

They’re addictive little spice cookies, smaller versions of the traditional German pfeffernusse. Dori Roberts and Cindy Enos of Spokane make them from a recipe handed down by their Grandma Rubin, who lives in Colfax, Wash., and just turned 90.

Say, Grandma, could you pass the peppernuts, please?

Price: Around $4 for 4.85 ounces (about 60 cookies).
