New Series Ordered For Mtv

The Hollywood Reporter

MTV has ordered a number of new series, including 30 episodes of “Undressed,” a new daily half-hour show from director Roland Joffe (“The Killing Fields”), the cable network announced Wednesday at a presentation for advertisers.

“Undressed” focuses on three couples and the discussions that they have while preparing for bed. It will debut July 19 at 11 p.m.

MTV also green-lighted “Beat Sweep,” a hard-core, hip-hop series; “Hot Spot,” a one-hour pop music series; and “Spankin’ New Music,” a series that will introduce new musical acts. The three shows will premiere in late May or early summer.

“Dance Planet,” a deejay series to be broadcast simultaneously from five international locations, will premiere in the fall. MTV also green-lighted “Spy Groove,” an animated series in the spirit of “Austin Powers” to premiere in first quarter 2000.

In a more traditional vein, MTV has ordered 13 episodes of “Making the Video,” a weekly half-hour series about the creation of a music video. The show will debut June 28 at 10:30 p.m.

“MTV Downtown,” the network’s newest animated show, will debut Aug. 3 at 10:30 p.m. MTV will also premiere new episodes of “Real World,” “Road Rules” “BIOrhythm,” “Daria,” FANatic,” “Celebrity Deathmatch” and “The Tom Green Show” this summer.
