Mary (Stack) Cavender Spokane

Funeral Mass for Mary Cecilia (Stack) Cavender, 93, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cavender, who was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., died Saturday.

She moved to Amsterdam, N.Y., and then to Spokane in the summer of 1910. She attended Emerson Elementary and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic schools and graduated from North Central High School. She later graduated from North West Business College.

Mrs. Cavender worked as a secretary for the Duffy Lumber Co., Armour and Co. and J.C. Penney Co. at Shadle Center. She also worked for the Spokane North Rotary Club.

She married Joseph Cavender in 1938.

Mrs. Cavender sang in the church choir at St. Francis of Assisi and later directed the choir for 25 years. She was active in the parish activities, including as basketball coach for the youth team. She also served as a eucharistic minister.

Mrs. Cavender was a member of the Martuccis Choral Society and Acapella Choir, Bell Canto Women’s Chorus, Catholic Daughters of America. She was a member and served as chairman of the Catholic Daughters for the city of Spokane, was a member of the Latisa Garden Club, the Women’s Club, the Legion of Mary, St. Cecelia Guild and the Franciscan Players. She was a member of the Jane Jefferson Democratic Women’s Club Precinct 357 Democratic Committee. She also directed the camp for girls at Hayden Lake, Idaho, in 1934.

Survivors include a son, Joseph Cavender Jr.; and three nieces, Barbara Gibson, Diane Sellin and Helen Margaret Sargeant.

Ronald Quinn Spokane

Visitation for Ronald L. Quinn, a 50-year Spokane resident, will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday at his home.

Mr. Quinn, who was born in Sheridan, Wyo., died Saturday. He was 60.

He worked as a lumber grader in the timber industry for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Sue.

Bradley Donaldson Spokane

Memorial service for Bradley W. Donaldson, 48, will be at 11 a.m. today at Knox Presbyterian Church. Burial was previously held at Fairmount Memorial Park.

A longtime Spokane resident, Mr. Donaldson died Saturday.

Born in Butte, Mont., he moved to Spokane as a child and attended Mead schools until his senior year. He moved to Havre, Mont., and graduated from high school there in 1968.

He graduated from Gonzaga University in 1985 with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.

Mr. Donaldson worked for Monicle Enterprises and then as a component engineer for Key Tronic in Spokane from 1988 until 1991.

He graduated with an associate of arts degree in respiratory therapy from Spokane Community College in 1994.

Mr. Donaldson worked as a certified nurse assistant at St. Luke’s Rehabilitation Center, and as a respiratory therapist at Kootenai Medical Center, Lincare in Spokane and most recently in the extended care unit at Holy Family Hospital. He also spent time at Deaconess, Sacred Heart and Valley medical centers.

He was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church and the American Association of Respiratory Care.

Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Lanette; two sons, Bryan Donaldson and Steven Quaschnick, two daughters, Jalene and Jaime Donaldson, and his parents, Ernest and Wanda Dieterich, all of Spokane; four brothers, Gene, Jerry and David Ray, all of Spokane, and Brice Donaldson of Enid, Okla.

Memorial contributions may be made to Knox Presbyterian Church.

Dessie Burke Spokane

No service will be held for Dessie May Burke, 83, at her request. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Burke, who was born in Mountain Home, Idaho, died Monday.

She was paymaster at Fairchild Air Force Base for many years before retiring in 1970.

Survivors include a brother, Robert Beaman of Beaverton, Ore.; and two sisters, Lila Glimp of Sweet, Idaho, and Flora Alberthson of Redwood City, Calif.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Spokane Humane Society.

John Dalke Spokane

Visitation for John Jay Dalke, 43, will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Funeral will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mr. Dalke, who was born in Billings, Mont., died Saturday.

He graduated from West Valley High School in 1974 and served with the Army for four years. While stationed in Germany, he met and married Gisela Naujoks in 1977.

After his discharge from active duty, Mr. Dalke moved to Yakima, where he began working in the heating and air conditioning industry. He moved to Spokane in 1983.

For the past four years he had been working as an electrician for ASC Machine Tools in Spokane.

He was a longtime member of the Lutheran Church and was baptized as an infant at Faith Lutheran Church in Billings and confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Yakima.

Mr. Dalke is survived by his wife; his mother, Marie Dalke of Yakima; five sisters, Deanna Flom of Glendive, Mont., Jacque Leitch of Lacey, Wash., Joyce Piske and Joan Covell, both of Yakima, and Jewell Van Horn of Goldendale, Wash.; and a brother, Jerrold Dalke of Mount Vernon, Wash.

Bertha Wuest Spokane

No service will be held for Bertha P. Wuest, 93. The Cremation Society of Washington is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Wuest, who was born in Patton, Maine, died Wednesday. She was 93.

She grew up and spent most of her life in Libby, Mont., before moving to Spokane 25 years ago.

Mrs. Wuest was a homemaker and a member of the Spokane Valley Senior Center.

Her husband of 49 years, John, preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Leon and Walter Wuest, both of Libby; a daughter, Betty Pollard of Spokane; a brother, Calvin Downing of Boise; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Patricia Triplett Spokane

Memorial service for Patricia J. “Pat” Triplett, 73, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Riplinger Funeral Home.

A 46-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Triplett died Sunday. She was born in Madison, Wis.

Mrs. Triplett worked as a licensed nurse practitioner at Deaconess Medical Center and for the Visiting Nurses for many years.

She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Her husband, Oris Triplett, died in 1990.

Survivors include three sons, John Triplett of Cheney, Michael Triplett of Veradale and Timothy Triplett of Fallon, Nev.; a daughter, Mary Alice Mize of Spokane; two sisters, Joanne Crawmer and Jacqueline Matthews, both of Madison; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Florence Stein Spokane

Graveside service for Florence C. Stein, 87, will be at 2 p.m. today at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Stein, who was born in Langdon, N.D., died Saturday.

She grew up and attended schools in Langdon, and moved to Spokane in the late 1940s.

Mrs. Stein worked as a housekeeper at Deaconess Medical Center for 15 years and retired in 1977.

Survivors include three daughters, Bernita Fraser of Spokane, Janice Gepford of Medical Lake and Lindy Eddy of Otis Orchards; a son, Norman Stein of Spokane; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Yvonne Nedrow Spokane

Memorial service for Yvonne Nedrow, 53, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nedrow, who was born in Puyallup, Wash., died Friday.

She married Neil Nedrow in 1978, and they made their home in Otis Orchards.

Mrs. Nedrow had been working in the deli at Albertsons grocery store in Liberty Lake for the past two years, and was a member of the Otis Orchards Community Church.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Hannah and Esther; her mother, Ione of Renton, Wash.; and a sister, Sue Acuna of Ballard, Wash.
