Jason Pilon Begins Basic Training

Army Pvt. Jason F. Pilon, Son of Laura Pilon of Coeur d’Alene, recently arrived at Fort Benning, Ga., For basic training.

He will received training in physical fitness, first aid, human relations, map reading, tactics, military drill, ceremonies, customs and courtesies.

Army Pvt. Roberto D. Crespo, son of Debrah Olson of Moscow, recently arrived for basic training at Fort Knox, Ky.

Crespo will receive instruction in Army history and traditions, military justice and courtesy, weapons, map reading and physical fitness.

Justin C. Felts, son of Rea and Deborah Felts of Bayview, has enlisted in the Army as an Avenger crew member and recently departed for basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C.

Felts, a 1999 graduate of Timberlake High School in Spirit Lake, qualifies for a $6,000 incentive and has enrolled in the GI Bill for up to $19,008 toward full-time schooling.

Ricky E. Cook, son of Ricky Cook of Veradale, Wash., and Kathy Cook of Post Falls, has enlisted in the Army infantry and recently departed for basic training at Fort Benning, Ga.

Cook, a 1996 graduate of Central Valley High School in Veradale, qualifies for a $12,000 cash incentive due to his enlistment choice.

Kelly W. Reid, son of Donald and Dianne Reid of Coeur d’Alene, has enlisted in the Army as a medical specialist and recently left for assignment to a permanent duty station.

He is a 1988 Coeur d’Alene High School graduate.

Craig A. McDowell, son of Steven and Carol McDowell of Juliaetta, has completed Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps field training encampment at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas.

McDowell, who is currently enrolled at the University of Idaho, received orientation on jet aircraft, human relations, career opportunities and survival training. The field training is normally attended by cadets between their second and third year of college.

Anthony G. Kinney, son of Cesar Castillo of California and stepson of Wayne Kinney of Bayview, has enlisted in the infantry through the Army’s delayed-entry Program and recently departed for basic training at Fort Benning, Ga.

Kinney qualifies for up to $50,000 under the Army College Fund and joined the Army for experience, skill training and to serve his country.
