If you’re one of those people who eats wild rice only when dining out — but you absolutely love the taste — you’ll want to check out the St. Maries Wild Rice available at several area stores.

The organic rice has been grown and harvested in St. Maries at the southern edge of Lake Coeur d’Alene for about 15 years. It’s distributed through a wild rice partner in Salem, Ore.

The grains of this dark rice expand by nearly three times their dried size when cooked and produce a nutty flavor. Most packages include recipes.
