Daniel Bashaw Moscow, Idaho

A celebration of the life of Daniel D. Bashaw, 38, will be today at 10 a.m. at Short’s Funeral Chapel in Moscow. Mr. Bashaw, who was born in Moscow, died Saturday from an aneurysm.

He played football at Moscow High School and graduated in 1981. He moved to Alaska and worked for several years in the construction industry and in the restaurant business.

Mr. Bashaw also worked for Avis Car Rental Co. in Kenai, Alaska, before returning to Moscow. He then became a maintenance employee at Washington State University. He worked in maintenance for the University of Idaho until the time of his death.

Mr. Bashaw was involved in camping, fishing, hunting and outdoor recreation.

Survivors include his parents, John and Karen Bashaw of Moscow; four brothers, Rod and Tim Bashaw, both of Coeur d’Alene, Eric Bashaw of Troy, Idaho, and Lance Bashaw of Portland; his grandparents, Betty Steensma of Moscow, and Alice and Fred Nuxoll of Clarkston, Wash.

Memorial contributions may be made to a youth recreation association.

Cathy Ginter Hayden, Idaho

Service for Cathy Ann Ginter, 41, will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.

Mrs. Ginter, who was born in Chicago, died Sunday.

She grew up traveling to various places while her father served in the Navy. She later worked as a dental office manager in the San Diego area.

She later moved to Sandpoint and worked in the office of Dr. Don Tucker and Associates for many years.

In 1994 she married Joe Ginter. They worked together in his trucking business.

Survivors include her husband; two stepsons, Brian and Neil Ginter, and a stepdaughter, Cindy Marcella, all of Coeur d’Alene; her parents, Dale and Ruby King of Culver City, Calif.; a brother, Tim King of Duarte, Calif.; and three sisters, Linda, Debra and Andrea King, all of California; and one granddaughter, Kassy.

Leland `Donald’ Lyons Marcus, Wash.

Service for Leland “Donald” Lyons, 69, is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday at Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville, Wash.

Mr. Lyons, who was born in Ford, Wash., died Sunday.

He served in the Army during the Korean War.

After his military service he worked on a uranium plant at Uranium City near Ford. He also worked as a log cutter for Deer Park Sawmill and Brauner Lumber Co. Mr. Lyons later worked as a saw mechanic for Jerry’s Saw and Tool, and Morgan’s.

He and his wife, Ida, lived in Ford until moving to Marcus in 1962.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years; three sons, Leland and Lyle Lyons, both of Marcus, and Lester Lyons of Colville; two daughters, Lorraine Ride of Chewelah, Wash., and Lois Louie of Kettle Falls, Wash.; a brother, Tiney Lyons of Kettle Falls; four sisters, Olive Clark of Ford, Pansy Baker of Addy, Wash., Lila Buck of Kelso, Wash., and Marylin Adams of Milan, Wis.; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Raymond Sprute Burke, Idaho

Rosary service for Raymond E. Sprute, 88, will be at 10 a.m. today at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church in Wallace with Mass to follow. Burial will be at Nine Mile Cemetery near Wallace. Shoshone Funeral Service of Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Sprute, who was born in Keuterville, Idaho, died Saturday.

He grew up and attended schools in Keuterville. He had worked at various farms, a saw mill and with Civilian Conservation Corps before settling in the Silver Valley in 1936.

In 1942 he married Lucille Schmidt. He worked for Hecla Mining Co., the Morning Mine and then Star Mine in 1940, retiring as a foreman in 1976.

He was a member of the Wallace Elks Lodge, Toastmasters Club and St. Alphonsus Church.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Kathleen Stone of Spokane, Joanne Sperry of Osburn, Idaho, and Debbie Grantham of New Hampshire; a son, Pat Sprute of Silverton, Idaho; two brothers, Al Sprute of Coeur d’Alene and Virgil Sprute of Richland; three sisters, Mary Schmidt of Cottonwood, Helen Weiand of Spokane and Marjie Spengler of Grangeville, Idaho; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Eva (Davey) Doyl Spokane

Memorial service for Eva L. (Davey) Doyl, 89, will be at 10 a.m. today at Liberty Park United Methodist Church. Private burial will precede at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born near Freeman, Mrs. Doyl died Thursday.

She graduated from Lewis and Clark High School.

Mrs. Doyl worked at The Spokesman-Review for 30 years.

She was a member of the Liberty Park United Methodist Church and an associate member of the Priest Lake (Idaho) Community Church.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Vernon; a daughter, Joanne Miller; a brother, James Davey of Kalispell; a granddaughter and two great-granddaughters.

Helen (Lenander) LaLonde Spokane

Visitation for Helen (Lenander) LaLonde, 91, will be from noon to 8 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Service is planned for 2 p.m. Thursday in Sunset Mausoleum Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park. Burial will follow.

A lifetime Spokane resident, Mrs. LaLonde died Sunday.

She graduated from North Central High School and St. Luke’s School of Nursing.

Mrs. LaLonde worked as a registered nurse at St. Luke’s and Deaconess hospitals.

She was the past president of the Down River Ladies Golf League.

Her husband, William, died in 1991.

Survivors include a son, Robert LaLonde of Spokane; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Jeffrey Muehle Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for Jeffrey Steven Muehle, 38, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene.

Mr. Muehle, who was born in Spokane, died Saturday.

He lived in Spokane and in 1968 moved to Coeur d’Alene where he attended schools. He worked in Coeur d’Alene as a cook at various restaurants. He was employed at Jordan’s Grocery at the time of his death.

He was involved in fishing, hunting, woodworking, darts, race cars and he coordinated area hot-rod runs.

Survivors include his father, Edward Muehle of Post Falls; his mother, Phyllis Muehle of Coeur d’Alene; a brother, Ed Muehle of Oregon; a sister, Peggy Muehle of Coeur d’Alene; and his grandmother, Eva Mae Nelson of Spokane.

David Dewberry Coeur d’Alene

Family graveside service for David A. Dewberry Jr., 84, will be today at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Dewberry, who died Saturday, was born in Clarksville, Tenn.

He grew up in the Clarksville area, and in 1937 married Agnes Smith. They moved to Akron, Ohio, where he worked for Goodyear Tire Co. for 40 years.

Mr. Dewberry retired and they moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1978.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Akron.

Survivors include his wife; a son, David Dewberry III of Coeur d’Alene; two daughters, Pam Espe of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Deanna Ricks of Grangeville, Idaho; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Melba Smith Spokane

Memorial service for Melba M. Smith, 90, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Rockwood Manor. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born at Maitland, a mining camp near Deadwood, S.D., Miss Smith died July 10.

She graduated from Commercial College in South Dakota and majored in accounting and business law.

She was a 34-year Spokane resident and worked as an office manager for Emery’s Men’s Store and Harvey’s.

She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi International, the P.E.O. and Westminster Congregational Church.

Miss Smith is survived by her sister, Effie Talbot of Spokane.

Edna Burrus Spokane

Memorial service for Edna M. Burrus, 81, will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Eagles Lodge No. 2. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 72-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Burrus died Friday. She was born in Seattle.

She worked as a meat wrapper for Safeway Stores for 31 years.

Mrs. Burrus was a member of the Eagles Lodge No. 2 Auxiliary.

Her husband preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter, Jerilyn McNicol-Oosting of Spokane; a son, Gary Burrus; a sister, Gloria Morris; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Hazel Ritter Spokane

Memorial service for Hazel B. Ritter, 90, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ritter, who was born in Rolette, N.D., died Saturday.

She attended beauty school in Kellogg in the 1950s.

Mrs. Ritter was a homemaker before opening a beauty shop in Wallace. She retired in 1965.

She lived in Brewster, Wash., and moved to Sunshine Gardens in the Spokane Valley about 10 years ago.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Ed Bjerke and Ed Ritter.

Survivors include a son, Donald Bjerke of Wallace; a brother, Clifford Umback of Everett, Wash.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Rose Dias Spokane Memorial service for Rose M. (Reiman) Dias, 58, will be at 11 a.m. today at Pines Mausoleum at Pines Cemetery. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Dias, who was born in Idaho, died Friday.

She grew up in Odessa, Wash., and graduated from Odessa High School.

Mrs. Dias received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington and a master’s degree from Bowling Green State University in Ohio.

She was a principal for an American high school in Rio de Janeiro and was a volunteer with the Peace Corps.

Survivors include two daughters, Angela and Alianna Dias, both of Tampa, Fla.; her mother, Neva Reiman of Spokane; a brother, Mike Reiman of Kennewick; a sister, Linda McCory of Gainsville, Fla.; and a grandson.

Rita Dodd Spokane

Service for Rita C. Dodd, 51, will be at 1 p.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pines Cemetery. A 20-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Dodd drowned Saturday in the Spokane River. She was born in Morton, Wash.

She grew up in Newport, Wash., and graduated from Newport High School.

Mrs. Dodd received a nursing degree from Walla Walla Community College. She was a licensed practical nurse at Cliff Manor, University Care Center, Franklin Hills Nursing Home, Sullivan Park and Good Samaritan Village. She also worked at Interlake School in Medical Lake. Most recently she was working at Regency at Northpointe.

Mrs. Dodd was a member of Opportunity Christian Church.

Survivors include her husband, Walter; a daughter, Janette Canoy of Richland; two sisters, Patty Lurh of Olympia and Dorothy Graham of Siletz, Ore.; a brother, John McCracken of Spokane; and a granddaughter.
