William Chubb Bonners Ferry, Idaho

Service for William H. Chubb, 61, will be today at 10 a.m. at Bonners Ferry United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Grandview Cemetery in Bonners Ferry.

Mr. Chubb, who was born in Sandpoint, died Friday.

He graduated from Bonners Ferry High School and was involved with the local Order of DeMolay, where he served in various positions.

Mr. Chubb attended Whitworth College in Spokane before entering the Air Force.

He moved back to Bonners Ferry after his military service and worked with his father at the Bonners Ferry Herald. In 1969 he purchased the paper and operated the business for nine years.

In 1978 Mr. Chubb became a partner in Blue Lake RV Resort near Bonners Ferry with Ray and Dolly Russell. He also traveled while working for Selkirk Seed.

He was co-founder of Kootenai River Days and was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed goose hunting, and owned and raced thoroughbred horses.

Survivors include a daughter, Ketta Everhart of Bonners Ferry; a son, Bill Chubb Jr. of Naples, Idaho; two brothers, James Chubb of Bonners Ferry, and Marc Chubb of Phoenix; a sister, Kristin Lefebvre of Rainier, Ore.; special friend and companion, Debbie Smoot of Sandpoint; and three grandchildren.

James Showers Rathdrum, Idaho

Memorial service for James M. Showers, 73, will be today at 2 p.m. at the Warner Alliance Church, 514 Warner Ave., in Lewiston. A dinner will follow at Rowdy’s Steak House in Lewiston. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of cremation.

Mr. Showers, who was born in Bronson, Kan., died Saturday.

He began working for the U.S. Forest Service in 1943 and lived in Kansas, Lewiston and Orofino, Idaho, before moving to Rathdrum in 1999.

Mr. Showers married Susan Krueger in 1967 and retired from the Forest Service as a fireman in 1986.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Orofino.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Patrick Showers of Rathdrum and Wesley Showers of Lewiston; two brothers, Jerry and Larry Showers, both of Lapwai, Idaho; and three granddaughters.

Judy Garvey Spokane

Service for Judy Ann Garvey, 54, will be today at 10 a.m. at Coffelt Funeral Chapel in Sandpoint. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint.

Mrs. Garvey, who was born in Yakima, died Saturday.

She moved to Kootenai, Idaho, in 1947 and attended school there before graduating from Sandpoint High School in 1964.

She married Sean Garvey in 1968, and they lived in Bremerton, Hawaii and California before settling in Spokane in 1979.

She worked as a waitress and then as a medical insurance examiner.

She enjoyed quilting, sewing and painting.

Survivors include her husband; three children, Brian Garvey and Seana Sorensen, both of Spokane, and David Garvey of Gilroy, Calif.; and seven grandchildren, Ryan, Janae, Gabrielle, Madison, Sean, Tyler and Connor.

Carol `Chick’ Raffo Post Falls

Memorial service for Carol “Chick” Raffo, 64, was held Tuesday at English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls.

Mrs. Raffo, who was born in San Francisco, died Saturday.

She married Edward Raffo in 1943, and they lived in Santa Rosa, Calif., where she worked in retail sales. They moved to Post Falls 19 years ago. She enjoyed gardening and remodeling projects.

Her husband died in 1998.

Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Stover of Post Falls and Julie Beckett of Rathdrum, Idaho; two sisters, Christine Montana of San Jose, Calif., and Joann Welch of Post Falls; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Frank McNees Nordman, Idaho

Service for Frank Perry McNees, 74, will be at 11 a.m. today at Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Priest River, Idaho.

Mr. McNees, who was born in Athol, Idaho, died Nov. 14.

He graduated from Millwood High School and then served in the Marine Corps during World War II.

He was a self-employed logger. He also had worked for the Diamond Match Co. and the Forest Service. He retired in 1988.

Mr. McNees was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2909.

His companion of 32 years, Margaret Hash, died in 1987.

Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Tibbetts of Spokane, Arlina Holman of Nordman and Sylvia Scribner of Priest River; a son, Sam Hash of Bellevue, Neb.; 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Janet McEnany Pinehurst, Idaho

Memorial service for Janet Lee McEnany, 76, will be today at 1 p.m. at Kellogg Funeral Chapel.

Mrs. McEnany, who was born in Vallejo, Calif., died Sunday.

She graduated from Washington State College in 1946 with a degree in bacteriology.

She married Dr. V.H. McEnany in 1948, and they lived in Pullman, Wash., until moving to the Silver Valley in 1955.

She had worked as a lab supervisor at West Shoshone Hospital in Kellogg and later at Shoshone Medical Center, and then became the lab supervisor at the Doctors Clinic.

She was a member of the American Association of University Women, American Society of Clinical Pathologists and Chi Omega sorority.

Her husband died in 1975.

Survivors include a daughter, Katie O’Reilly of Chantilly, Va.; two sons, Chris McEnany of Vashon Island, Wash., and Tim McEnany of Pinehurst; a brother, James Montzheimer of Spokane; and three grandsons.

Barbara Wolfe Spokane

Service for Barbara Juanita Wolfe, 71, will be at 12:30 p.m. today at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Pines Cemetery.

A 50-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Wolfe died Friday. She was born in Elma, Wash.

Mrs. Wolfe worked as a private-duty registered nurse.

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Morrie; three sons, Lonnie Gross of Spokane, Donald Gross of Rathdrum, Idaho, and Jeff Wolfe of Vancouver, Wash.; her mother, Georgia Ralph of Rockford; four sisters, Patricia Sczenski of Spokane, Deloris and Dorothy Thies, both of Fairfield, and Darlene Brockell of Hay, Wash.; two brothers, Bob Charos of Spokane and Bill Romaneski of Ellensburg; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mary Ann Fenton Wallace

Memorial service and funeral Mass for Mary Ann Fenton, 62, was held Saturday at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church in Wallace. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Fenton, who was born in Denver, died Nov. 15.

She lived in Fromberg, Mont., before moving to the Silver Valley in 1943. She attended the Lady of Lourdes Academy in Wallace and graduated from Wallace High School in 1956.

She worked as a caregiver and nanny and was a member of the Wallace Eagles Auxiliary, St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, and the Wallace Ladies Major Bowling League.

Mrs. Fenton also served as Idaho’s first woman minor league baseball coach.

She married Lyle Fenton in 1980.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Everett Walker of Tacoma, John Walker of Cincinnati and Leonard Walker of Oak Harbor, Wash.; two brothers, James “Bill” Ramirez of Alabama and John “Garfield” Ramirez of Louisiana; two sisters, Judy Morin of Osburn, Idaho, and Patsy Gust of Wallace; and six grandchildren.

Lorene (Tremer) Walsh Half Moon Prairie, Wash.

Visitation for Lorene Fay (Tremer) Walsh, 67, will be from 8 a.m. to noon today at Lauer Funeral Home in Deer Park. Service will follow at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Deer Park. Burial will follow at the Wayside Cemetery on Half Moon Prairie. Mrs. Walsh, who was born in Colville, Wash., died Friday.

She grew up in the Addy, Wash., area and graduated from Reardan (Wash.) High School in 1950.

Mrs. Walsh worked for the Reardan Branch of Old National Bank.

After she married Thomas Walsh in 1956, they moved to Half Moon Prairie.

She was a homemaker and managed the dairy farm.

Mrs. Walsh was a member of Wild Rose Prairie United Methodist Church and Half Moon Grange.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Timothy Walsh of Half Moon Prairie; four daughters, Leslie Walsh of Spokane, Kelly Rykken of Portland, Lynette McKeown of Duvall, Wash., and Wendy Walsh-Vilander of Niedbo, Denmark; a sister, Lois Whalen of Valdez, Alaska; and a brother, Lloyd Tremer of Valdez.

Leonard Budig Spokane

Funeral Mass for Leonard Peter Budig, 79, will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. Private burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Budig, who was born in Hoisington, Kan., died Sunday.

His family moved to Spokane in 1939, and he graduated from Gonzaga Prep in 1940.

He worked for Kaiser Aluminum Mead Plant for 10 years.

Mr. Budig attended Mollers’ Barber School in 1954 and opened Leonard’s Barber Shop the following year. He operated the barber shop until 1997.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He also was a member of and a eucharistic minister at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Rose; four daughters, Margaret McCormick, Betty Doyle, Kathy Collins and Mary Coffey; and 10 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Morning Star Boys Ranch or Hospice of Spokane.

Diane Beden Spokane

Visitation for Diane Annette Beden, 38, will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Born in Coffeyville, Kan., Miss Beden died Friday.

Her family moved to the Tri-Cities where she graduated from Richland High School in 1980.

She moved to Spokane in 1983 and was a homemaker.

Miss Beden received a heart transplant in 1995.

Survivors include her companion, Michael Walker; a son, David; a daughter, Ashley; her parents, Larry and Earlena Beden of Pensacola, Fla.; four brothers, Steve Beden of Kennewick, Terry Beden of Apopka, Fla., Randy Beden of Richland and Jeff Beden of Yelm, Wash.; and her grandfather, Earl Ellis of Cherryville, Kan.

Byron `B.G.’ Diltz Spokane

Memorial service for Byron “B.G” Diltz, 43, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Burial will be held at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Born in Spokane, Mr. Diltz died Nov. 15.

He graduated from West Valley High School in 1975 and then served in the Army for four years.

Mr. Diltz worked as a pipefitter for Grinnell Pipe Manufacturing in Seattle until 1993.

He moved back to Spokane in 1999.

Survivors include a son, Aaron Diltz; his mother, Kathryne Diltz, and a sister, Andrea Felts, both of Spokane; and a brother, Larry Solsness of Reno, Nev.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Union Gospel Mission or the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery.

Donald Hastings Spokane

Service for Donald D. Hastings, 86, will be at 11:30 a.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Inurnment will be held at Fairmount Memorial Park.

A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. Hastings died Saturday.

He worked as a foreman for Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Co. He retired in 1976.

His wife, Jannette, died in 1999.

Survivors include a son, Jay Hastings of Seattle; and a brother, Ivan Hastings of Pasco.
