Agnes Neil Spokane
Visitation for Agnes Laverne Neil, 85, will be from 9 a.m. to noon today at Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash. Memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Private inurnment will be held at a later date at Newport Cemetery.
Mrs. Neil, who was born in Halfway, Ore., died Saturday.
She graduated from high school in Halfway.
Mrs. Neil and her husband, John, operated the family dairy farm near Priest River, Idaho, for more than 25 years. They also owned and operated Neil’s Marina in Priest River.
She moved to Spokane three years ago.
Her husband died in 1972.
Mrs. Neil is survived by a sister, Hazel Bolser of Alaska.
Genevieve Fox Spokane
Service for Genevieve H. Wohrle Fox, 97, will be at 11 a.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Private burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Born in Genesee, Idaho, Mrs. Fox died Sunday.
She moved to the Deer Park area in the late 1940s and moved to Spokane in the 1970s.
Mrs. Fox was a homemaker, and a member of Deer Park Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star.
Two husbands, Oscar Wohrle and Carl Fox, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Howard Wohrle of Deer Park; two daughters, Helen Reasor of Post Fall and Dorothy Robar of Idaho; a sister, Odella Meulner of Diamond Lake, Wash.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Maynard Marshall Coeur d’Alene
Service for Maynard Earl Marshall, 85, will be today at 10 a.m. at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Marshall, who was born in Washington County, Iowa, died Sunday.
He graduated from high school in Iowa in 1935 and served as a machinist’s mate in the Navy from 1938-45.
He married Doris Stober in 1946 and the couple moved to North Idaho in 1953.
Mr. Marshall worked as a machine operator for Kaiser Aluminum for 26 years before retiring in 1977.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael Marshall of Oregon and Jack Marshall of Post Falls; two daughters, Joyce Peterson of Post Falls and Pat Carney of Coeur d’Alene; a brother, Bernard Marshall of Iowa; three sisters, Romona Bell, Dorothy Evans and Wilma Garwood, all of Iowa; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Florence Click Spokane
Visitation for Florence M. Click, 89, will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home. Graveside service is planned for 1 p.m. Thursday at Pines Cemetery.
Mrs. Click, who was born in Latah, died Saturday.
She graduated from high school in Latah, and in 1934 married Glen Click.
Mrs. Click was a 32-year Spokane resident and a homemaker.
Her husband died in 1968.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Click of Spokane, Daryl Click of Clarkston, Wash., and Robert Click of River Falls, Wis.; a sister, Evelyn Bushnell of Twisp, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Elsie Hitzel Metaline Falls, Wash.
Memorial service for Elsie Marie (Anderson) Hitzel, 83, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Ione (Wash.) Community Congregational Church. Private inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Ione. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
A lifetime Metaline Falls resident, Mrs. Hitzel died Sunday. She was born in Tiger, Wash.
In 1942 she married Joseph Hitzel.
She worked as a nurses aid for 40 years at the Ione Hospital and Mount Linton Hospital in Metaline Falls. She retired in 1983.
Mrs. Hitzel was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary 144 and the Young at Heart Club in Ione.
Her husband died in 1963.
Survivors include a son, Merl Hitzel of Newport; two sisters, Helen Haney of Ione and Jean McCarter of Peck, Idaho; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Robert Northrup Bonners Ferry, Idaho
Graveside service for Robert L. Northrup, 53, will be Thursday at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. A memorial service was held Tuesday at Bonners Ferry Funeral Home.
Mr. Northrup, who was born in Portland, died Oct. 5.
He served with the Marine Corps from 1965 to 1992.
He married Joyce Priestap in 1969.
Mr. Northrup moved to Cougar, Wash., after his military service and worked as a logger in the timber industry and then settled in Bonners Ferry in 1994.
He began working for Louisiana Pacific in 1996 and retired earlier this year due to poor health.
Mr. Northrup enjoyed hunting and auto repair.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert Northrup II of North Carolina; four daughters, Donna Galvin of North Carolina, Tonia Northrup of Vancouver, Wash., and Melissa Dionisis and Rhonda Little, both of Bonners Ferry; his mother and stepfather, Betty and Frank Vasey of Gresham, Ore.; a sister, Lloydine Howell of Amboy, Wash.; three brothers, Frank, Bill and Jack Northrup, all of Portland; and 13 grandchildren.
Frederic Moore Sumner, Wash.
Graveside service for Frederic C. Moore, 82, will be at 3 p.m. today at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
Memorial service is planned for 1:30 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church in Auburn, Wash. Price-Helton Funeral Chapel in Auburn is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Moore, who was born in Colville, Wash., died Saturday.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Moore worked as a letter carrier for the Postal Service in Spokane before he was transferred to the Federal Aviation Administration in 1958.
He moved to the Auburn/Sumner area in 1970, and in 1974 retired from the Seattle Air Traffic Control Center in Auburn.
Mr. Moore was a member of Auburn First United Methodist Church, Rio Verde Golden K Kiwanis Club in Auburn and National Association of Letter Carriers Branch No. 442.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dorothy; two sons, James Moore of Spokane and Gerald Moore of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two daughters, Mary Lou Lobb of Redmond, Wash., and Sharon Miller of Blythe, Calif.; two brothers, Donald and Kenneth Moore, both of Spokane; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Mildred (Dunning) Mangis Davenport, Wash.
Service for Mildred M. (Dunning) Mangis, 91, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Strate Funeral Home in Davenport. Burial will follow at the Creston (Wash.) Cemetery.
Mrs. Mangis, who was born in Creston died Monday.
She graduated from Creston High School in 1926.
Mrs. Mangis received a teaching certificate and taught in rural schools in Wilson Creek, Creston and Hunters, Wash.
She married Orville Mangis in 1931, and they lived in Wilson Creek. They operated a cattle ranch until they moved back to Creston to operate the Mangis cattle ranch. They retired in the early 1970s.
She and her husband moved to the Clear Lake area before moving to Davenport in 1992.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Gary Mangis of Creston; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Ella Zeller Spokane
Visitation for Ella M. Zeller, 86, will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Service is planned for 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Private burial will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
A 60-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Zeller died Sunday. She was born in Williston, N.D.
She was a homemaker, and a member of Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary Post 1474.
Her husband of 50 years, Richard, died in February.
Survivors include a daughter, Arlene Plyler of Spokane; a brother, Oscar Semler of Bellingham; three granddaughters and three great-granddaughters.
June (Wiitala) Kangas Hayden Lake, Idaho
Memorial service for June (Wiitala) Kangas, 81, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lutheran Church of the Master in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will be at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Kangas, who was born in Devils Lake, N.D., died Monday.
She graduated from high school in Michigan in 1936 and moved to Mullan, Idaho, in 1940 with her family.
She married Eino Wiitala in 1941, and they lived in Mullan.
She was a school volunteer and held several offices in a parent-teacher association. She was a member of Wallace Eagles Lodge, Osburn (Idaho) Veterans of Foreign Wars and Mullan Emmanual Lutheran Church.
Her husband died in 1969.
She married Toivo Kangas in 1971, and they lived in Casa Grande, Ariz., until moving to Hayden Lake in 1987.
Mrs. Kangas was involved with the Homako Hospital Auxiliary in Arizona and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and was a volunteer at the Casa Grande Nursing Home.
Her husband preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Connie Arthur of Coeur d’Alene; and four grandsons.

Ruell Searson Jr. Spokane
Memorial service for Ruell A. “Ru” Searson Jr., 43, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Heritage Funeral HOme.
A 10-year Spokane resident, Mr. Searson died Friday. He was born in Aruba.
He graduated from Reed College in Portland and Gonzaga Law School, and worked as a tax attorney in Seattle and Spokane.
Survivors include a son, Torin Searson, and a daughter, Marjorie Searson, both of Spokane; his parents, Ruell and Jean Searon of Belleair, Fla.; a brother, John Searson of Atlanta; and a sister, Patricia of Holmes, N.Y.

Chad Almquist Spokane
Service for Chad M. Almquist, 32, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-South. Burial will follow at Spokane Memorial Gardens.
A lifetime Spokane resident, Mr. Almquist died Friday.
He graduated from Ferris High School in 1986 and later graduated from Spokane Community College.
For the past 12 years he had worked as a service technician for Sears.
Survivors include his wife of four years, Mindy; two children, Kyle and Keirsten Almquist, both at home; his parents, Gene and Sharon Almquist of Spokane; and a brother, Eric Almquist of Spokane.
Mary Hoffman Kellogg
Memorial service for Mary J. Hoffman will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pinehurst, Idaho. Spokane Cremation and Burial Service is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Hoffman, 77 died Saturday.
She was born in Orting, Wash., and raised in Tacoma.
She worked in the naval shipyards in Bremerton, until she married Merlin Hoffman in 1944.
After World War II they moved to Kellogg.
Mrs. Hoffman worked at Weber Bank in Wardner, Idaho, and later worked as an administrative assistant for the Bunker Hill Mining Co. before retiring in 1981.
She was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Pinehurst.
Her husband died in 1985.
Survivors include a son, Gary Hoffman of Pinehurst, Idaho; a daughter, Karen Shriver of Seattle; four grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

Gertrude Thornton Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for Gertrude M. Thornton, 98, will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Coeur d’Alene Bible Church. English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Thornton, who was born in Stevensville, Mont., died Sunday.
She grew up in the Emida and Santa, Idaho areas and then moved to Seattle before moving to Coeur d’Alene in 1945.
Mrs. Thornton was a homemaker and also worked for Goetzmans Photography from 1949 until the early 1970s.
She attended Coeur d’Alene Bible Church and was a member of the Maranatha’s and was a Girl Scout leader after she helped bring the organization to Coeur d’Alene in 1945.
Mrs. Thornton was a lone troop consultant for the Inland Empire Girl Scout Council and traveled throughout North Idaho assisting troops in need.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl.
Survivors include a daughter, Lorna Campbell of Coeur d’Alene; a brother, Bernard Bretz of Bothell, Wash.; a sister, Blanche Shephard of Snohomish, Wash.; and two grandchildren.

Sherri Hawley Mead

A lifetime Mead resident, Miss Hawley died Saturday.
She graduated from Mead High School in 1994.
Survivors include her parents, George and Cheryl Hawley of Mead; a brother, Randal Hawley of Spokane; and her grandmother, Phyllis Mittet of Concord, Calif.

Alice Van Kleeck Kellogg
Service for Alice Grace Van Kleeck, 59, will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the Kellogg Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.
Mrs. Van Kleeck, who was born in Butte, Mont., died Sunday.
She graduated from high school in Butte and moved to the Silver Valley 38 years ago.
She owned Johnny’s Bar and AJ’s Cafe in Smelterville, Idaho.
In 1994 she married Robert Van Kleeck.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Melissa Newby, Wendy Van Kleeck and Kelly Bergem, all of Kellogg; a son, Donald Van Kleeck of Smelterville, Idaho; four brothers, Bruno, John and Victor Celli, and Kenneth LeCoure, all of Butte; and four grandchildren.
Edward `Sam’ Burton Coeur d’Alene
Memorial service for Edward D. “Sam” Burton, 84, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene.
Mr. Burton, who was born in Manville, Ill., died Sunday.
He grew up on the family farm in Illinois and then worked as a long-haul truck driver.
Mr. Burton married Rowena Martin in 1938. They owned a restaurant in Long Point, Ill., until retiring in 1974. They moved to Mesa, Ariz., before settling in Coeur d’Alene in 1980 to be near family.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union, Masonic Lodge, Long Point Christian Church and Long Point Lions Club. He was a volunteer with the Senior Companion program.
His wife died in 1999.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Nimke of Coeur d’Alene; a sister, Rita Lee of Long Point; and two grandchildren.
