Winemakers rise early for CBS interview
They don’t call it “The Early Show” for nothing.
In Spokane, it would be the CBS Really “Early Show.” Just ask winemakers Greg Lipsker and Michael White of Barrister Winery. They’ll be rising in time for a 4 a.m. live shot at Riverfront Park on Friday with CBS weatherman Dave Price.
The live segments with the winemakers will be shown during “The Early Show,” which airs on KREM 2 between 7 and 9 a.m. They’ll be talking about Barrister wines and bringing a couple barrels out for Price to sample.
Despite the early hour, they won’t be the only ones there. “The Early Show” producers expect hundreds of people to show up for event, clamoring for a chance to be in the crowd shots. They’re also giving away a “Great American Vacation” to an unsuspecting local person. (If you’re one of the people who would like to be there, you’ll find the action near the clock tower.)
Price and “The Early Show” crew are traveling across the country during June and July to surprise people with a vacation. They’re hitting Billings during today’s show. The Spokane stop is Friday and they head to Yakima for the July 5 show. For more information, go to www.cbsnews.com.
Don’t forget the baby blues
Hooray for the red, white and blueberry.
Washington and Oregon berries are just coming into season and the deep indigo berries are perfect for pies, pancakes, smoothies, sauces and salads.
Need another reason to eat these delicious berries? The tiny super food is packed with antioxidants that can help fight cancer.
There are now more than 135 blueberry growers in Washington. Most growers are near the state’s West Coast, but last year was the first year blueberries were grown in Chelan, Tri-Cities and Yakima. There is also a blueberry farm just across the border in Laclede, Idaho.
Along with some strawberries and cream, the berries also make a patriotic addition to your Fourth of July picnics and cookouts. Look inside today’s food section for recipes for blueberries.
