Achievements: Wentworth cadet from Spokane a Falcon scholar

“Brian Loupe of Spokane was recently awarded the Honorable John L. McLucas scholarship by the Falcon Foundation. Loupe is currently a student at the Wentworth Military Academy and Junior College in Lexington, Mo. A graduate of Central Valley High School, he is the son of Collins and Alexis Loupe of Spokane. Loupe plans to attend the Air Force Academy after finishing the Falcon Program at Wentworth.

“Nearly 30 students at St. George’s School have been named AP Scholars for their scores on Advanced Placement exams in the last academic year. Recent graduates are included in the list.

National AP Scholars, with an average grade of at least 4 on all AP exams taken, and grades of 4 or higher on eight or more exams include current senior Daniel Copeland and recent graduate Katherine Kerschen.

AP Scholars with Distinction, with an average grade of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams include: current seniors Elisabeth DeLeeuw and Samuel Wagstaff, and recent graduates Katharine Fischer, Kenneth Hong, Matthew Jackson, Minwook “Bill” Kang, Patricia O’Brien, Cordelia Revells, Jessica Rouse, Eric Schillinger and Luca Valle.

AP Scholars with Honor, with an average grade of at least 3.25 on all AP exams taken, and grades of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams include: current seniors Kerry Blake and Allison Lawrence, and recent graduates Daniel Crane, Andrea “Tasha” Koontz and Caitlin Mauk.

AP Scholarsm with grades of 3 or higher on three or more AP exams include: current seniors Rosie Martinez, Mariah Ostheller, Colin Schilling, Erin Steenblik and Divya Vishwanath, and recent graduates Danae Ervin, Brittany Hadley, Lauren Kirby and Mackenzie Trail.

“Two area residents recently graduated from basic training at Fort Sill, Okla. Army National Guard Pvt. JamesMichael Gestner is the son of Garry Gestner of Nine Mile Falls. Army Pvt. Christopher Daniels is the son of Telana Henley of Deer Park.

“Two area residents recently graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C. Army Pvt. Crystal Hall-Garcia, a 2006 graduate of Deer Park High School, is the daughter of Shirley Hall of Mead. Army National Guard Pvt. Jerrel Farmer Jr. is the son of Donna Farmer of Moses Lake.

“Army Pvt. Nikki Quitugua recently graduated from the power generation equipment repairer advance individual training course at the Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md. Quitugua, a 2005 graduate of Lewis and Clark High School, is the daughter of Peter and Daisylina Quitugua of Spokane.

“Two area residents recently graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. Air Force Airman Ryan Harman, a 2006 graduate of Moses Lake High School, is the son of Rex Harman of Moses Lake.

Air Force Airman Ryan Crane, the son of C.J. and Shellie Crane of Colbert, is a 2006 graduate of Mead High School.

“Army National Guard Pvt. Toni Carter recently graduated from basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C., through the Army National Guard or Reserve Split-option Program. The program is for high school students between their junior and senior years. Carter, the daughter of Russell Maughan of Kent, Wash., and Carrie Stigall of Ione, Wash., is a student at Kent Meridian High School.
