Man injured in fall down embankment

From Staff And Wire Reports

A Spokane man suffered serious injuries after falling about 40 feet down an embankment at a downtown bridge Sunday afternoon.

Donald Quigley, 47, had problems with his legs and had lost a significant amount of blood from a head wound when firefighters pulled him from under the Post Street Bridge about 3 p.m. Sunday, said Spokane police Officer Tim Moses. “He was still conscious and talking to us,” Moses said. “But he’s going to be hurt for a while.”

Quigley had been drinking and was trying to get to a camp under the bridge when he fell, Moses said.

Highway 2 crash kills Arkansas man

Creston, Wash. – An Arkansas man died on U.S. Highway 2 near Creston after his car rolled and he was partially ejected, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Glover was westbound when his 2000 Chrysler Town and County drifted to a ditch and struck a culvert, rolling the car and partially ejecting Glover, who was not wearing a seat belt, the WSP said.

His family in Star City, Ark., learned of his death Sunday morning, troopers said.

SUV thief hits seven police cars

SEATAC, Wash. – The King County Sheriff’s Office said a man stole an SUV from a family unloading luggage at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and then smashed into seven police cars while he was trying to get away at speeds of more than 100 miles per hour.

Investigators say a Cadillac Escalade was stolen at the airport just before 7, but the vehicle had an OnStar system, which allowed operators to track the SUV’s location.

Sheriff’s spokesman John Urquhart said one officer suffered a minor injury in the chase, which ended when the thief lost control of the SUV and it flipped. The vehicle rolled several times and caught fire, but the driver was not seriously injured.
