Homicide probe begins after man dies

Warren Scott Flinn (Spokane County Sheriff's Office)
A man found badly assaulted in Spokane Valley on Sunday has died, and investigators are asking for help finding his killer. Warren Scott Flinn, 44, died Wednesday at a local hospital after deputies found him injured in the 300 block of North Lake Road while responding to a report of a possible trespassing, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. The area is just east of Fancher Road and north of Sprague Avenue. Medics checked Flinn and found he had been shot, sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Craig Chamberlin said today. Investigators believe Flinn is a transient, but court records show he lived at an address on South Audubon Street until as early as September. He also spent time in Florida and California, where he has felony convictions for burglary. The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an autopsy today. Anyone who spoke to Flinn or spent time with him recently is asked to call Detective Kirk Keyser at (509) 477-6611. Anonymous tips can be submitted online here.
