Mix it up
Pears from the Wenatchee Valley are bottled up with crystallized ginger in Bungalow 23’s new Pear Ginger Martini mixer.
Bungalow 23’s mixers feature fresh fruit purees, real fruit juices and extracts made from fresh-cut herbs with no preservatives, concentrates or artificial ingredients.
The slightly spicy Pear Ginger Martini is brightened by lemon and lemongrass. Other flavors use blueberries from Oregon’s Willamette Valley and prickly pears from California’s Salinas Valley. Mixers cost $17.50 and are available online via Amazon or the Bungalow 23 website at www.b23mixers.com.
‘Chowderland’
This new cookbook by Brooke Dojny offers all kinds of chowder recipes – Manhattan-style and New England clam, corn, Portuguese, lobster – as well as sides and salads to complement the hearty stew. Hardback and 135 pages, the slim volume focuses on East Coast recipes, but there’s at least one Pacific Northwest salmon chowder. Look for the recipe inside today’s Food section.
