Area roundup: Chiefs sign pair of Czech forwards

The Spokane Chiefs announced Monday that Czech forwards Ondrej Najman and Pavel Kousal have signed player contracts for the upcoming Western Hockey League season.
Najman and Kousal were the Chiefs’ first- and second-round picks, respectively, in the 2016 import draft.
“We are pround to add a pair of talented forwards to our organization,” said Chiefs general manager Tim Speltz. “We expect both to bring a scoring ability with them as they make the transition ot North American hockey.”
Football
The Spokane Empire have signed defensive lineman Michael Reynolds to their 2017 Indoor Football League roster.
Reynnolds played four years for the Kansas Jayhawks.
Volleyball
The Idaho Vandals were picked to finish sixth in the Big Sky Conference in a vote by the conference’s coaches.
Idaho won the Big Sky North last season. Eastern Washington was picked to finish eighth.
