Northwest notes

A look at the latest brewery news from elsewhere around the region:

– Deschutes launches this year’s much-anticipated Abyss imperial stout with release parties today at its pubs in Bend and Portland. The standard version – aged in bourbon, Oregon oak and pinot noir barrels – and its 2016 variations, from Scotch and brandy barrels, are expected to reach the Spokane market by Christmas.

– Dark beer fans also will be happy to hear that Pelican is putting its award-winning Tsunami Stout into six-packs of 12-ounce bottles beginning in January. It’s previously been available only in 22-ounce bombers.

– Ninkasi is bringing back its Believer double red as a winter seasonal through April in 12- and 22-ounce bottles, plus draft. A portion of sales will benefit three national nonprofits: Conscious Alliance (hunger relief), Team River Runner (adaptive paddling programs for wounded and disabled veterans) and Women Who Code (inspiring women to excel in technology careers).
