Your weekly roundup

Catching up with more news from the past week in local craft beer:

– No-Li is adding a fourth canned beer to its lineup. Amber Ale is scheduled to join the Born & Raised and Big Juicy IPAs and Red, White & No-Li pale as of March 1.

The amber, previously available only on draft, made limited appearances in 22-ounce bottles this fall under the Chinese Lantern Festival and Frost Fest labels.

– Spokane’s Magic Lantern Theatre, which reopened Dec. 1 under new ownership with plans to add beer and wine to its concession offerings, received state liquor license approval Thursday.

– Mark your calendar for the 38th beer dinner at Hills’ Restaurant and Lounge on Jan. 15, featuring Deschutes. The menu (accompanied by beers used in the dishes) includes crab cakes with River Ale remoulade sauce, prime rib with the 2015 and 2016 vintages of Abyss imperial stout, and chocolate/pineapple cake (and huckleberry ice cream) with Pinot Suave, a Belgian-style ale aged in pinot noir wine barrels. Cost is $49 including tax and tip; call (509) 747-3946 for reservations.

– We’re sure your calendar already is marked for the next International Gruit Day on Feb. 1, honoring those beers brewed with herbs instead of hops. Spokane’s Bellwether, which specializes in the style, is planning an event involving other area breweries; look for more information early in the new year.
