Eric O’Grey, the Spokane Valley man whose story about losing more than 100 pounds with the help of a shelter dog went viral earlier this year, has a book deal.

O’Grey made the announcement on his website , noting the book is slated for publication in fall 2017.

“Walking with Peety” will be published by Grand Central Publishing, a division of Hachette, O’Grey wrote. It will be co-written by Mark Dagostino , a former senior writer for People magazine who’s written several New York Times bestselling titles. O’Grey’s personal favorite: “Rudy: My Story,” which tells the story of Notre Dame football player Rudy Ruettiger.

In addition to adopting a shelter dog, O’Grey transitioned to a plant-based diet under the care of a naturopathic doctor. These days, he runs marathons and trains on the Centennial Trail with his new shelter dog, Jake.
