Dust Devils score three in eighth to beat Spokane Indians 5-3

The Tri-City Dust Devils rallied behind a three-run eighth inning to down the Spokane Indians 5-3 in the first game of a three-game Northwest League series at Gesa Stadium on Sunday.

With the score tied at 2, Indians relief pitcher Parker Sanburn issued a walk then hit the following batter to start off the eighth. Aldemar Burgos reached on a bunt single to load the bases. Sanburn walked another, forcing in the tiebreaking run.

Left-hander Lucas Jacobsen replaced Sanburn on the hill and gave up back-to-back sacrifice flies for a 5-2 Dust Devils lead.

The Indians (29-34, 13-12) tried to close in on Tri-City in the final inning but managed to score only one more run before the game ended when Nick Kaye was called out on strikes.

The Indians got their final run after Cristian Inoa was hit by a pitch with two outs, went to second on catcher’s indifference then scored when Kole Enright drove him in with a line-drive single to right field.

Tri-City outhit the Indians 12-8. Jalen Washington led the Dust Devils, going 3 for 3. He was a home run shy of a cycle.

Enright went 3 for 3 for the Indians while driving in three runs.
