After experiencing oversized sidewalk games in Seattle, Spokane Sidewalk Games founder Ryan Oelrich saw their potential for bringing the Spokane community together. “It was such a great experience to watch business professionals and tourists and homeless play games together,” Oelrich said. “I wanted to come back and make it uniquely our own.”

Spokane Valley reschedules free movie

Spokane Valley Parks and Recreation has rescheduled the free showing of “Inside Out” to August 23 at 7:50 p.m. The movie will show at Mirabeau Meadows Park, 13500 E. Parkway. Children’s activities and crafts start an hour before the movie.

Feature creature: Koda, an adoptable dog

Koda is available for adoption from the Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service. Shelter workers say he is an energetic, friendly, happy dog who needs an active family. Because he is big and strong, Koda would do best in a family with a strong handler and no small children.
