Game On: Without its ‘Hero Mode,’ what’s the point of Overwatch 2?

Early last week, Overwatch executive producer Jared Neuss dropped the bombshell announcement that Overwatch 2’s “Hero Mode” was officially canceled. Although Blizzard had shared very little about the planned “player vs. environment” mode since its initial showcase at BlizzCon 2019, the news was met with shock and near-universal backlash from gamers and critics alike.

The "The Godfather Part II" and "Meet the Parents" star shared in a recent interview that he has welcomed another child — a revelation he made when he was asked specifically about his six children. He corrected ET Canada interviewer Brittnee Blair by saying "seven, actually."

Game On: Survey shows majority of gamers over 50 feel overlooked

A recent study conducted by AARP Research revealed that 69% of gamers over the age of 50 feel games are designed with older players as an afterthought. Commonly cited issues were game difficulty and/or lack of tutorials, and many of those surveyed found push notifications and forced advertisements in mobile games obnoxious.

Nintendo is often considered the Disney of the video game world. Both have dozens of instantly recognizable properties, products with mass appeal to children and older fans alike, endless streams of merchandise and even their own theme parks. Oh, and both companies will sue the pants off of anyone within reach, issuing cease-and-desist letters faster than you can say “it’s-a me.”

Game On: PlayStation 5 sales booming, Xbox sales slacking

Earlier this week, research firm VGChartz published worldwide sales charts comparing units sold for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch over comparable periods – January to February of a given year. No doubt aided by the pandemic, in early 2021 the Switch saw around 3.1 million sales, followed by the PS5 with 1.5 million and the new Xbox machines at around 650k.
