Ron Adams has watched girls basketball in the region grow by leaps and bounds the past 29 years. From his perch as the director of the Spokane Stars AAU program, he has been blessed to have most of the top players in the area compete for him.

Wrestling for Dad

RATHDRUM – The Wright brothers – Seth, Nate and Nick – are wrestling for their late father. Three years ago this April, Jesse Wright and his 16-year-old daughter, Keriann, were killed in a car accident. Nate and Nick were seriously injured in the crash along Highway 53 near Rathdrum.

The No. 1-ranked Coeur d’Alene girls concluded the regular season undefeated with their third consecutive victory over Lake City, 65-46, while the top-ranked Lake City boys had no problem dispatching the Vikings for a third straight time, 59-43, before a near-capacity crowd of 2,600 at LC.

Wrestler plans to stay on top

Garret Belgarde started his freshman wrestling season last year at Sandpoint High School ranked No. 1 in the 4A poll at 103 pounds. He fell one win short of placing at state, finishing the year 29-9 overall.
