Robert Harkey Hayden Lake, Idaho
Service for Robert L. Harkey, 79, will be at 10 a.m. today at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane.
Mr. Harkey, who was born in Idaho Falls, died Saturday.
He attended high school in the Idaho Falls area and then served with the Army 85th Ski Troop, 10th Mountain Division, during World War II.
Mr. Harkey moved to Spokane in 1941 prior to joining the service and returned there in 1945 and was a partner in Spokane Armature for several years.
He then became a real estate broker and insurance agent.
He moved to Hayden Lake in 1991.
Mr. Harkey was a member of the Spokane Valley Elks Lodge, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Hayden Lake Eagles Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marge.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; five stepchildren, Judy Peters of Kalispell, Mont., Elaine Packer, Gene Peters and Donna Correll, all of Spokane, and Tammy Kendrick of Newman Lake; a brother, Rollin Harkey of Oregon; two sisters, Dorothy Disher of Seattle and Verle Craine of Butte, Mont.; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
David Shaw Vancouver, Wash.
Service for David B. Shaw, 64, was Tuesday at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home with burial following at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Shaw, who died Thursday, was born in Minnesota.
He served with the Marine Corps during the Korean War and then moved to Kellogg and later Coeur d’Alene.
Mr. Shaw worked for the Bunker Hill Mining Co. until moving to Gig Harbor, Wash., in 1967.
He then worked at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyards in Bremerton and in 1973 moved to Spokane and worked for the Bonneville Power Administration.
Mr. Shaw transferred to Vancouver, Wash., in 1984, retiring in 1995.
He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene; two sons, Daniel Shaw of Vancouver and David Shaw of Helena; a daughter, Vicki Mars of Buckley, Wash.; three brothers, Earl Shaw of Iowa, Dr. Ross Shaw of Seattle and Dennis Shaw of Arizona; three sisters, Carolyn Cranston of Florida, Fern Shaw of Seattle and Alice Duminel of Iowa; and seven grandchildren.
Kathryn McCroskey Bellevue, Wash.
Memorial service for Kathryn P. McCroskey, 78, will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Bellevue. Green’s Funeral Home in Bellevue is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. McCroskey, who was born in Spokane, died Sunday.
She graduated from Annie Wright Seminary High School in Tacoma and then from the University of Washington, where she was a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority.
Mrs. McCroskey was active in Junior League and the Festival at Sandpoint.
She had spent her summers in Sandpoint since her childhood and had moved to Bellevue 48 years ago.
Survivors include her husband, Floyd; a son, Floyd McCroskey of Bellevue; three daughters, Kathryn East and Kristine Moore, both of Bellevue, and Randi Hammersberg of Sandpoint; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Vey Smith Coeur d’Alene
Service for Vey Smith, 94, will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Smith, who was born in Missouri, died Sunday.
She lived in Kellogg in the 1920s and moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1986.
Her husband, August, died in 1966.
Survivors include a son, Robert Smith of Coeur d’Alene; six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Edward Emery Priest River, Idaho
Memorial service for Edward Ellsworth Emery, 91, will be at 5 p.m. Thursday at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Priest River. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Emery, who died Friday, was born in Iowa City, Iowa.
He moved to Ephrata, Wash., in 1922 and then in 1924 graduated from Ephrata High School.
Mr. Emery worked in the orchards in the Wenatchee area and then bought a hardwood floor business in Wenatchee, where he installed floors in many area stores and homes.
In 1936 he married Minona Fitts in Ephrata, and he began Emery’s Real Estate and Insurance, working from home and then moving to a downtown office.
He served as a chairman of the Planning Council for 17 years, was a member of the Ephrata City Council for 14 years and was a chairman of the Rationing Board for Grant County during World War II.
The family moved to Carmichael, Calif., in 1963 and then to Truckee, Calif., when he purchased the Tahoe-Truckee Insurance Agency in 1966. He sold the agency in 1972 and retired for the first time to Whidbey Island, Wash.
In 1975 he joined his son, Richard, in insurance in Anchorage and Kenai, Alaska. He retired for the second time to the Wenatchee and Orondo, Wash., area in 1980.
He once again joined his son in the insurance business, this time in Newport, Wash., and retired for the third time in 1990, to the Newport and Priest River area.
Mr. Emery was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Newport and St. Catherine’s Church in Priest River.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, David Emery of Northfield, Minn., Richard Emery of Priest River and Gary Emery of Davis, Calif.; two daughters, Cheryl McCulloch of Port Orchard, Wash., and Mary Emery Robb of Ann Arbor, Mich.; two sisters, one brother, 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Charles Addington St. Maries
Service for Charles P. Addington, 89, will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the Harrison (Idaho) Community Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in St. Maries. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Addington, who was born in Harrison, died Sunday.
He grew up in Harrison and graduated from high school in Portland in 1927.
Mr. Addington attended Kinman Business School in Spokane and then served with the Civilian Conservation Corps.
He returned to Harrison and worked as a foreman for Bob Woods Brush Piling Co. and then moved in 1949 to Kellogg and was a foreman for the Bunker Hill Mining Co.
He retired from Bunker Hill after 21 years and returned to Harrison in 1981.
Mr. Addington moved to St. Maries in 1996 and was a member of Harrison Community Baptist Church and Harrison Grange and Senior Citizens.
Survivors include his wife, Teg; a daughter, Charlene Burden of Pinehurst; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Linda Haraldson Nechanicky Arlington, Texas
Visitation for Linda Haraldson Nechanicky, 56, will be Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene. Service will be Friday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Coeur d’Alene. Burial will be at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.
Ms. Nechanicky, who was born in Coeur d’Alene, died Thursday from cancer.
She grew up in Coeur d’Alene and moved to Arlington in 1975 and attended dental assistant school training at Tarrant County Junior College. She began a career with Dr. Ned Patrick, D.D.S., in Arlington and recently held the position of office manager.
Survivors include a daughter, Angela Riley of Arlington; her boyfriend, Bill Runnion of Arlington; her mother, May Haraldson of Spokane; a brother, Bill Haraldson of Spokane; and one granddaughter, Amber.

Marjorie (Kentoph) Moss Spokane
Funeral for Marjorie L. (Kentoph) Moss, 68, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park.
Mrs. Moss, a 40-year resident of Spokane, died Sunday.
She was born in Spokane and worked as a bookkeeper and manager for Inland Transfer and Storage.
Mrs. Moss was a member of the Catholic Church and the Eagles Lodge No. 2 Auxiliary and had bowled with the Eagles and Shrine Ladies.
Survivors include her husband, Norman; a stepson, David Moss of Spokane; three sisters, Arlene Cornell of Pullman, Carolyn Flodin of Genesee, Idaho, and Linda Kentoph of Medical Lake; a brother, Arthur Kentoph of Pullman; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Donald Nottingham Spokane
Memorial service for Donald G. Nottingham, 81, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Moon Chapel in Sandpoint.
Mr. Nottingham, who was born in Sheridan, Wyo., died Sunday.
He graduated from Midwest (Wyo.) High School and in 1936 married Hazel August in Lead, S.D.
Mr. Nottingham worked as a heavy equipment operator and moved to the Spokane area in 1960 from Sandpoint.
He was a member of the Eagles Lodge and volunteered with Sacred Heart Medical Center.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Sharon Nottingham and Sandy Nast, both of Spokane, and Donna Hutton of Sandpoint; a brother, Victor Nottingham of Greeley, Colo.; a sister, Laurabelle Jones of Edgerton, Wyo.; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mildred Fenton Coeur d’Alene
Service and burial for Mildred Ballou Fenton, 94, will be held at a later date in Nebraska. Yates Funeral Home in Coeur d’Alene is in charge of local arrangements.
Mrs. Fenton, who was born in Nebraska, died Saturday.
She grew up in Nebraska and attended Peru State Teachers College there.
Mrs. Fenton lived in Nebraska until moving to Colorado Springs in 1953 and then moved to California.
She moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1978 and was a member of the P.E.O., Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the Nile.
Mrs. Fenton was preceded in death by two husbands, Martin Ballou in 1949 and Ben Fenton in 1961.
Survivors include two sons, Eugene Ballou of Coeur d’Alene and James Ballou of Nebraska; three daughters, Mary Martin of Coeur d’Alene, Dolores Olson of Georgia and Jessie Ballou of Colorado; a brother, John Manley of Colorado; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Arthur Scholz Spokane
Mass for Arthur C. Scholz, 92, will be at 9 a.m. today at St. Paschal’s Catholic Church. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Scholz, a 52-year resident of Spokane, died Monday.
He served in the Army and then retired in 1969 from the Postal Service as a mail carrier.
Mr. Scholz was a member of the English Springer Spaniel Club of Spokane.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Stella; two sons, Ronald Scholz of Spokane and Eugene Scholz of Newport, Ore.; a sister, Ethel Crawford of Spokane; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Gladys Borders Kettle Falls, Wash.
Funeral for Gladys Lucille Borders, 71, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Colville Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Graveside service will follow at Meyers Falls Cemetery in Kettle Falls. Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Borders, a 31-year resident of Kettle Falls, died Friday.
She was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, and moved to Penticton, British Columbia, at the age of 4.
Mrs. Borders worked in her father’s orchards while receiving her education in Penticton.
After graduating from high school, she worked in a Penticton bank for two years.
In 1947 she married William Borders in Penticton and then moved to Curlew, Wash., where she became a U.S. citizen in 1958.
They moved to Kettle Falls in 1967. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Relief Society.
Her husband died in 1994.
Survivors include a son, Garry Borders of Spokane; a daughter, Judy Robinson of Kettle Falls; two brothers, Fred and Ken Wiltse, both of Penticton; four sisters, Bertha Batterly of Moose Jaw and Eva Lye, Mary Hart and Mabel Newbold, all of Penticton; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
