Mary Bleich-Lenton Spokane

Funeral mass for Mary Bleich-Lenton, 86, will be thursday at 1 p.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Private inurnment will be held at a later date. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 20-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Bleich-Lenton, died Saturday. She was born in Illinois.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Hillyard Senior Center.

Her husband, Wilf Lenton, preceded her in death.

Survivors include a sister, Margarete Kohler of Polson, Mont.; a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.

Natalie Miller Arlington, Va.

Memorial service for Natalie Miller, 90, will be held at a later date in Laurel, Mont. An Arlington, Va., funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

A former Spokane resident, Mrs. Miller died Thursday. She was born in Portland.

She graduated from Park City (Mont.) High School in 1929 and opened a hairdressing shop in Laurel, Mont.

She married Clement Miller in 1930, and they lived in Laurel until 1941, when her husband joined the Navy. Shortly after World War II they moved to Spokane.

Mrs. Miller was a homemaker and a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and Beacon Chapel.

After the death of her husband in 1996, Mrs. Miller moved to Arlington.

Survivors include a son, Steve Miller of Arlington; a sister, Sylvia of Walnut Creek, Calif.; and a granddaughter.

Violet Parks Clarkston, Wash.

Graveside service for Violet Lenore Parks, 87, was held Tuesday at Greenwood Memorial Terrace Cemetery in Spokane. Malcom’s Brower-Wann Memorial Chapel in Lewiston was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Parks, who was born in Penrith, Wash., died Thursday.

She lived much of her life in Spokane and married Paul Parks in 1993. She later moved to Clarkston.

Mrs. Parks spent winters in Mesa, Ariz., where she was a member of the Broadway Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Fred Snow and James Heck.

Survivors include several stepchildren.

Martha Rasor Medimont, Idaho

Service for Martha Ellen Rasor, 91, will be today at 11 a.m. at the Harrison (Idaho) Community Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Harrison City Cemetery. Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rasor, who was born in Nebraska, died Thursday.

She married Ray Makings and operated the post office in Medimont before he preceded her in death.

Mrs. Rasor later married Bernard Rasor and operated the Valley Mart at Medimont. Her husband preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Harrison Community Baptist Church, Medicine Mountain Grange and the Worthwhile Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Joanne Robinson of Olympia; two stepsons, Terry Rasor of California and Douglas Rasor of Coeur d’Alene; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Eunice (Haak) Szendre Electric City, Wash.

Memorial service for Eunice (Haak) Szendre, 85, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Grand Coulee. Potluck will follow at the Senior Center, 203 Main St. Strate Funeral Home in Grand Coulee is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Szendre, who was born in Laurel, Iowa, died Sunday.

She eloped with Joe Szendre to Unionville, Mo., in 1938. In 1942 they moved West, settling in the Seattle area during World War II and later moving to Kiona, Wash., where she worked at a meat packing plant. In 1973 they moved to Electric City.

Mrs. Szendre was a homemaker and a member of the Grand Coulee Seniors and United Methodist Church.

Her husband of 60 years died in 1998.

Survivors include three sons, Gerald Szendre of Spokane, David Szendre of Kennewick and Monte Szendre of Woodinville, Wash.; a daughter, Marian Cullen of Rossland, British Columbia; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Lavina (Anderson) Swanson Espanola

Visitation for Lavina R. (Anderson) Swanson will be today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cheney Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church in Medical Lake. Burial will follow at Reardan (Wash.) Cemetery.

A lifetime resident of the WaukonEspanola area, Mrs. Swanson died Sunday. She was 85.

She graduated from Reardan High School, and in 1943 she married Stanley Swanson.

Mrs. Swanson and her husband grew wheat and raised cattle at their farm in Waukon for several years. In 1965 they moved to Espanola, where they continued farming until their retirement.

She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, St. Anne Altar Society and the Waukon Grange.

Her husband died in 1981.

Survivors include a son, Gary Swanson of Spokane; three granddaughters and a great-grandson.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church or to the Morning Star Boys Ranch.

Dayton `Puddy’ Carlson Spokane

Funeral service for Dayton “Puddy” Carlson, 92, will be today at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in Colbert. Burial will follow at Fairmount Memorial Park. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 72-year Spokane resident, Mr. Carlson, died Sunday. He was born in Cloquet, Minn.

He worked as a pharmaceutical sales representative with McKesson for 40 years.

Mr. Carlson was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, Country Homes Kiwanis and Spokane Skeet Club, and was a charter member of the Mt. Spokane Ski Patrol and past president of the Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Lorry; two daughters, Joann Savage of Mead and Linda Carlson of Spokane; and four grandchildren.

Nancy Rust Nine Mile Falls

Funeral service for Nancy Lee Rust, 63, will be at 7 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be held at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox, Ind., at a later date.

A 13-year Nine Mile Falls resident, Miss Rust, died on Aug. 2. She was born in North Judson, Ind.

She served in the Air Force for 22 years and retired as a lieutenant colonel.

There are no survivors.

Macie Woodworth Vancouver, Wash.

Private graveside service for Macie B. Woodworth, 91, will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Memorial Terrace. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Woodworth, who was born in Boone County, Neb., died Sunday.

A former 48-year Spokane resident, she moved to Vancouver in 1997.

Mrs. Woodworth was a homemaker and a member of Monroe Park Gospel Chapel.

Her husband, Melvin, died in 1982.

Survivors include two sons, Duane Woodworth of Vancouver and Lester Woodworth of Shepherd, Mont.; three daughters, Leta Cook of Spokane, Ruby Boyd of Vancouver and Norma Barnes of Portland; a sister, Ruth Woodworth of Shingle Springs, Calif.; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Mildred Winter Spokane

Memorial service for Mildred G. Winter, 89, will be held at noon on Friday at the Suncrest Family Worship Center in Nine Mile Falls. Spokane Cremation and Burial is in charge of arrangements.

A 30-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Winter died Friday. She was born in Dodge City, Kan.

She was instrumental in the founding of the Ford (Wash.) Senior Center.

Mrs. Winter was a homemaker and a member of the Springdale (Wash.) Grange and the Order of Eastern Star in Chewelah, Wash.

Survivors include her husband, William; two sons, Robert and James Buchanan, both of California; two daughters, Jerry Babb of Washington and Janet Pankratz of California; and two stepchildren, Bruce Winter and Diane Williams, both of California.

Bernice Marshall Spokane

Graveside inurnment for Bernice V. Marshall, 77, was held on Tuesday at the Newport (Wash.) Cemetery. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Marshall, who was born in Potlatch, Idaho, died Saturday.

She graduated from Newport High School in 1940 and worked for several years as a secretary for the U.S. government. She later worked for the lumber industry at Diamond Match and Tru Mark Industries.

In 1956 she moved to Spokane.

Her husband, Claude, preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Jan Marshall of Aliso Viejo, Calif., and Susan Hodge of Upland, Ind.; four grandchildren.

Louise Collings Spokane

No services will be held for Louise Collings, 78, at the request of the family. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A 44-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Collings died Monday. She was born in Ririe, Idaho.

She worked as a bookkeeper for Pay n’ Save Drug Store in Spokane for many years.

Survivors include her husband, Horace; and a daughter, Morgan Collings of Newberry Springs, Calif.
